At 7:18 p.m. the Public Hearing was opened for Eagle Chase/Amoco Annexation
Agreement Amendment.
Director Durbin stated that the subject site is a vacant 10.7-acre parcel located
on the southwest corner of Illinois Route 59 and 135th Street. This parcel was
originally approved for townhome development as part of Eagle Chase
subdivision. The applicant is requesting a re-zoning from R-4 (Multiple-Family
Residence District) to B-3 (Community Shopping Center District) and a special
use permit for an automobile fuel station. The proposed rezoning also required
the annexation agreement to be amended. The applicant is a contract purchaser
and is proposing to develop a gas station facility on approximately 1.3 acres of
the site, located at the corner of 1.35th and Route 59. The rest of the 10.7 acres
is designated as future commercial development and would be developed
separately.
Resident, Edith Foulke who lives at 717 W. Partridge Drive in the Quail Run
subdivision had concerns about the gas station. She felt that there is no buffer
between the single-family homes and the commercial. Mr. John Murphey,
attorney representing Amoco was present and stated that the gas station would
be fully screened with landscaping.
S. Rathbun moved to close the Public Hearing and return to the regular meeting.
Seconded by S. Calabrese. Vote by roll call. Collins, yes; Calabrese, yes;
