Monday February 6th, 19110
The Board of Public works of the City of Richmond, Indiana,
met in regular session at the office of said Board on 11onday
February 6th, 1911, at 9 O'clock A. M, All the member,j Of said
Board being present, Messrs, Hammond, Charles and Zimmerman.
The following proceedings were had, to -wit: -
The Board approves the contract and bond of Schneider Bros,,
for the improverent of South loth Street, from Main Street to
South "A" Street• by constructing cement sidewalk on both aides
thereof between -the points named, as provided for by Improve_
ment Resolution No. 232-1910,
The Board approves the contract and bond of Daniel G, Burkhardt
for the improvement of South 2nd Street by constructing cement
sidewalk on the west side thereof, & cement curb & Putter on
both sides therWf from Main Street to South "A" Street, as pro-
vided for by Improvement Resolution No, 228-19100
The Board approves the contract on bond of Daniel G, Burkhardt
for the improvement of North 13th Street, by constructing cement
sidewalk 6 feet wide on the west side thereof, from North "L■St.
to North "H" Street, as provided for by Improvement Resolution
No, 231-19100
The Board approves the contract and bond of Schneider Bros.,
for the improvement of North 7th Str.Pet,from Main Street to
Fort Wayne Avenue, by constructing cement sidewalk on both sides
thereof, between the points named, as provided for by Improve-
ment Resolution No. 229-19100
The Board approves the contract and 'bond of Daniel G, Burkhardt
for the improvement of North 5th Street, by constructing cement
sidewalks & cement curb & gutter on both sides thereof, from
Main Street to North "D" Street, as provided for by Improvement
Resolution 11o, 227-1910,
The Board directs tYe Finance Department to pay Philip Hipskind
and Sons, contractors, the 2% of contract price retained for one
Year on the following maned improvement, The Fairview Sewer as
provided for by Improvement Resolution No, 170-19290
On Sett.." 2oth, 1910, Philip Hipskind & Sons was awarded the
contract t° construct a district sewer in the alley between
Chestnut Street & the P.C,C,& St L, Py, Co,, right-of-way at
the price submitted in bid therefore, under Improvement Resolut-
ion No, that
th 09 the saidd firm after havingreceived the contract
stated that they had in fi, rin on said work made a mistake and
ask the Board to release them from said contract after invest-
igation the Board on October 20th 1910 refuse to reopen the
matter and declared the certified'check�for. the sum of $100.00
forfeited, The IIoard on further information direct the Finale
Department to pay to the said PhilipHi skdnd & Sons the sum of
�s5.00, on said check, the city to etain $5,00 as cost of ry
advertlaing said sewer.

The Board received the following, communication from the coar, of Metropolitan Police C017r,1aalonernI
To the Board of Public Vorks, City of Richmond, Ind.,
Oentlenen:-
It is the wish of the Board of L'etropolitan Police
Commissioners, that proper place be made In basement of City
Building to be used In lodging of Bums and other peraons calling
for lodging, we are of the opinion that our Jail should not be
used for this purpose fnlmany reasons,
Also would ask that the annoyanc of the bumping under the
Turn -Key s room be so arranged that it will not hinder him from
his rest when aaleep, at present it is very annoying.

The Board on motion unanimously decide to meet said Metropolitan
Police Commissioners on Wednesday 8.01cloek P. N, for the purpose
of going over the said above complaints and reco;m^endations.
Claims to the amount of 92940.36 were allowed and ordered paid.
The Board did then adjourry
