A. Bond, attorney for John M. Underhill, appeared before thA Board in behalf of said Underhill in regard to claim it the sum of $300.00 for gravel alleged to have been furnished to the City of Richmond. in 1909, taken from near the corner of llth & brain Streets, in said city, and used by said city upon its streets, This claim having been filed at. divers times with the old Board of Public works and disallowed, and affidavits sg signed by JY the former Street Commissioneer, Ed. E9 Dye, that Underhill was paid in full for all gravel and labor for the city of Richmond during his term as Street Commissioner, and further that the said claim is unjust, the Board takes same under advise. ment until further investigation, Persuant to continuance to this date, the Board met to hear all persons interested or whose property is affected by the following described public improvement:- Improvement Resolution No,251-1911 providing for the improvement of Southwest•3rd Street, by construct- ing cement sidewalk 6 foot wide on both sides of said street, from Southwest "D" to "E" Street, A petition having been filed by property owners requesting that said improvement be extended on the east side of safd•3rd street, to the National Road, After. hearing all persons who appeared and no remonstrance 'having been filed or presented to the Board, And being fully advised in the premises, the Board decides that the benefits to property liable to he assessed for said improvement are equal to the estimated cost of the aare as reported by the City Civil Lngineer, and thereupon takes final action on said resolution as originally adopted, modifying the same so as to provide that said resolution Shall read as follows, to -wit:- Providing for the improvement of Southwest.3rd Street, by constructing cement sidewalks on the oast side thereof 5 foot wide from National Road to Southwest •E• Street and on the west side cement sidewalk 5foot wide from Southwest 'B' to Southwest "E" Street. And the Board now decides that the bene- fita to property liable to be assessed for said improvement as modified are equal to the estinated cost of same as reported by the City Civil Engineer, and as so modified the Board takes final action and confirms said resolution as so modified. ' 6 Irom North D. s for the fromBoard Southreceives South 2nd Street,by cons of South ■A• street, utter on both sides and excavatlnnstr sting cement curb & g g roadway to finished grade, as provided for by Improvement Resolution No. 245-19119 as follows: - Philip Hipskind & Sons, Bid: " Improvement Complete - - - 9766,00 The bid of PDilip Hipskind & Son being the only hid re- ceived, and being above the estimate of the City Civil Engineer, contract cannot be let, But as the Starr Piano Co, have filed an agreement to pay the cost of said improvement at the price of the estimate of said engineer which is 4700,00, The Board takes the same under advisement, and direct the City Civil Engineer to take this matter up with the said Starr Plano Co.• The Clerk is directed to notify the Richmond Light Heat & Power Co, to remove but of pole extending above the grade on North 8th Street, at the corner of North "D" & 8th Street, The Board did then adjourn, ,D //(0 /r - %/ IF President of Board.
