HomeMy Public PortalAboutResolution No. 24-040 - Install Signage at all City Parks and identified areasSponsored by: Mayor Taylor RESOLUTION NO. 24-040 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF OPA-LOCKA, FLORIDA, DIRECTING THE INTERIM CITY MANAGER TO INSTALL SIGNAGE AT ALL CITY PARKS AND IDENTIFIED AREAS SET FORTH IN EXHIBIT "A" HERETO; PROVIDING FOR INCORPORATION OF RECITALS; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the City Commission desires that the park locations and certain other identified areas be have signage that is uniform throughout the city and conspicuous; and WHEREAS, signage for the areas set forth in Exhibit "A" must contain the names of the designated area, address, hours of operation (if applicable), as well as display the City's seal; and WHEREAS, installation of signage shall take place at the following areas: set forth in Exhibit "A" to include: Sherbondy Park, Ingram Park, Segal Park, Rose Tydus Prayer Garden (Butterfly Garden), Coachman Gardens, Kaboom Park; and WHEREAS, funding for each sign shall not exceed One Thousand, Two Hundred Dollars ($1,200.00) as Sherbondy Park already currently has a sign and therefore the total signage budget shall not exceed Six Thousand Dollars ($6,000.00). The costs shall be paid from Parks & Recreation Division account #72-572630, Improvements Other than Building, which has a current available balance of Seventy -Three Thousand, Four Hundred Dollars ($ 73,466.00); and WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Opa-Locka finds that it is in the best interests of the City and its residents to direct the Interim City Manager to install signage at all parks and other areas identified in Exhibit "A" attached hereto. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF OPA LOCKA, FLORIDA: SECTION 1. RECITALS ADOPTED. The recitals to the preamble herein are incorporated by reference. SECTION 2. AUTHORIZATION The City Commission of the City of Opa-Locka hereby directs the Interim City Manager to install signage at all City parks and identified areas as set forth in Exhibit "A" hereto. Resolution No. 24-040 SECTION 3. SCRIVENER'S ERRORS. Sections of this Resolution may be renumbered or re -lettered and corrections of typographical errors, which do not affect the intent of this Resolution may be authorized by the Interim City Manager, following review by the City Attorney, without need of public hearing, by filing a corrected copy of same with the City Clerk. SECTION 4. EFFECTIVE DATE This Resolution shall take effect upon the adoption and is subject to the approval of the Governor or Governor's Designee. Staff Summary: The Parks and Recreations Department is seeking additional beautification by installing signage in the City's parks and green areas. All Signs shall be uniform and posted in a conspicuous location visible to residents & visitors. Signs must contain Park or Green Space name, address, hours of operation (if applicable) and City Seal. The following locations are recommended for inclusion of installation: • Sherbondy Park • Ingram Park • Segal Park • Rose Tydus Prayer Garden (Butterfly Garden) • Coachman Gardens • Kaboom Park Financial Impact: Funding for each sign shall not exceed $1200; times 5 total signs (Sherbondy already has one) therefore the budget should not exceed $6,000.00. This expense will be allocated to the Parks & Recreation Division account 72-572630; Improvements Other than Building, which has a current available balance of $ 73,466. Proposed Action: Staff recommends the City Commission approve the installation of signage at all parks and green spaces throughout the City of Opa-Iocka. Attachment:
