HomeMy Public PortalAbout09-05-1967 MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND, 'INDIANA SERVIN G AS A COMMITTEE IN CHARGE OF THE OPERATION OF THE RICHMOND POWER AND LIGHT PLANT, SEPTEMBER 5; 1967 The-Common Council of the City of Richmond, Indiana servigg as a committee in charge of the operation of the Richmond Power and Light Plant met in regular session in the Council Chambers in the City Building"in. said City, Tuesday, September 5, 1967 at the hour of 7:00 o'clock p.m. (est). Councilman Backmeyer presiding with the following members being present: Messrs. Bell, Henn, Hilligoss, Hollingsworth, Marino, Paust, Youngflesh and Yount. The following business was had to-wit: Councilman Yount moved the minutes of the previous meeting be approved without being read aloud, seconded by Councilman Youngflesh and on voice vote was carried. Councilman Paust moved the following claims be approved, seconded by Councilman Hollingsworth and on voice vote was carried: Approve the following: Bills in the amount of $84,443.06 Interest Coupons on 1953 Revenue Bonds 981.25 1 Payroll - 51,186.75 Councilman Backmeyer stated that the meeting that was to be held with the Public Service Commission September 6, 1967 had been cancelled due to changes in the personnel of the Commission. . Mr. Beck reported the-outage of electricity serving the east secion of the city August 28th at 1:10 p.m. was caused by a crane owned by the American Aggregates Company coming in contact with a high tension line knocking out the sub station on the Gravel Pit Road. Mr. Beck stated that negotiations had been completed with the Public Service of Indiana for the purchase of new customers in the south section of the city. The Light Plant is now waiting for approval of the Federal Power Commission. Mr. Beck outlined some future projects that are now being studied. L. The builder of, the Towne House apartments has purchased en area of ground just north of the present apartments for the construction of 47 new units. There will be negotiations with the Light Plant for electric heat. 2. There is planned a Super Trailer Court near the intersection of the Round Barn Road and Test Road. There is a question as to who will be eligible to serve electricity in the area. The R.E.M.C. or the Richmond Power andLight. 3. Earlham College has an expansion project in the planning stage that should increase from 850 KW demand to 1500 KW demand. This increase will require a new sub station on the campus. Mr. Beck stated that the latter part of the month he has planned a vacation for two weeks.
