THE RICHMOND POWER AND LIGHT PLANT, JULY 17, '1967 = The Common Council of the City of Richmond, Indiana serving as a committee in charge of the operation of the Richmond Power and' Light Plant met in regular. session in -the_ Council Chambers in the City Building in .said City, Monday, July 17, 1967 at the hour of 7:00 o'clock p.m. (est). Councilman Backmeyer presiding with the following members being present: Messrs. Bell, Henn, Hilligoss, Hollingsworth, Marino, Paust, Youngflesh and Yount. The following business was had to-wit: Councilman Marino moved the minutes of the-previous meeting be approvedwithout being read aloud, seconded by Councilman Bell and on voice vote was carried. Councilman Henn moved the claims and the transfer of funds as follows be approved, seconded by Councilman Hiliigoss and on voice vote was carried. Approve the following: Bills in the amount, of $24I-,725.03 1 - Payroll - 48,154.80 CN Payment of' Interest Coupons & 1953 Revenue Bonds 115,573.75 C Cr.,, Transfers from Cash Operating Fund to: Cash Reserve Fund _ 63,016.45 Depreciation Reserve Fund 36,000.00 Utility Bond Fund 24,102.92 Chairman Backmeyer stated that there would be a meeting of Council Monday, July 24, 1967 at the hour of 7:00 o'clock p.m. at the Whitewater Valley Station. Mr. Beck presented the=,following.and -requested approval., to make the investment as set out below: . July; 11-, 1967 A. E. Beck - General Manager II After the cash transfers are made next week,,we will have an amount of $125,000.00 available for investment in the Cash Reserve Fund. The best-investment available at this time would be U.S. Treasury Notes, 4-�% maturing in August 1968 Sind we now have $808,648.. in investments in this fund which mature on or before December 3Ist of this year, we would be able to invest this amount in Treasury notes of August 1968. , .. . . The price of the above Treasury notes at this time is 99.7 and the yield is 4.99%. We believe we should take advantage of this higher yield. On approval of the above we will place our order with the Second National Bank. /s/ E. S. Porter General Office Manager Councilman Marino moved the General Manager be authorized to invest the sum of $125,000.00 from the Cash Reserve Fund intd U.S. Treasury Notes-maturing August,1968, and further that there will not be a need for the $125,000.00 until August, 1968. Councilman Youngflesh seconded this motion and on voice vote was unanimously carried. Mr. Beck presented the following revision of Pregnancy Policy and recommended the same be approved. November 4, 1966 UTILITY POLICY IN REGARDS TO PREGNANCIES Because of the enactment of Federal Legislation it-has become necessary for us to revise our policy in regards to pregnancy among our female employees. After this date, the following general rules will apply in cases of this kind: 1. It shall be the general policy of the Utility to grant leave of absence, upon written request, to pregnant female employees who have twelve or more months of continb.::bu.s service. In no case shall the leave of absence be extended beyond three months from the date of birth of a child. i'Yy1 R. P. & L. minutes 7/17/67 cont. 2. Pension and group hospitalization premiums must be paid on or before ✓' the first of each month. Failure to pay pension and hospitalization +premiums '.woulra necessitate the removal of the employee on leave of absence from our payroll records as a discharge. 3. The Utility will be as lenient as possible during the first two or three months of a pregnancy. Absenteeism must be kept to an absolute minimum. The Department Head will be the judge as to when absenteeism is excessive. 4. Female employees, who are in direct contact with our customers, will be asked to leave as soon as it becomes apparent they are pregnant or accept another position where they are not in direct contact with 11/ customers. 5. Female employees, not in direct contact with our customers, may be permitted to work slightly longer, at the discretion of the Department Head. The employee requesting the right to return to work, with the written approval of her doctor, shall be returned to a comparable position and comparable pay if possible. If there is no comparable open position available, she shall then be returned to the next highest open position. If there is no open position available, she shall be classified as on lay-off until an: open position is available. It is our opinion that the above rules and regulations are fair and reasonable to the employee as well as the Utility. Revised 7/12/67 Councilman Youngflesh moved Council approve the Utility Policy In Regards To Pregnancies, seconded by Councilman Yount and on voice vote was carried. Mr. Beck reported that he and Mr. Lahey of the Clearview Cable of Richmond, Inc. had gone over an agreement for pole lease and both parties understand the Agreement. Councilman Yount moved the General Manager be authorized to sign the C.A.T.V.pole lease agreement with the Clearview Cable of Richmond, Inc. , seconded by Councilman Bell and on voice vote was carried. Mr. Beck reported there is a planned meeting with the Public Service Commission of / Indiana and there is a possibility that there might be a need of money to retain \i professional services. Councilman Yount moved this body authorize Mr. Beck to retain professional services if he deems it necessary. Councilman Youngflesh seconded this motion and on voice vote was carried.
