HomeMy Public PortalAbout02-20-1967 IL MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COMMON COUNCIL • OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA SERVING AS A COMMITTEE IN CHARGE OF THE OPERATION OF THE RICHMOND POWER AND LIGHT PLANT, FEBRUARY 20, 1967 The Common Council of the City of Richmond, Indiana serving as a committee in charge of the operation of the Richmond Power and Light Plant met in regular session in the Council Chambers in the City 'Building in said City,• Monday, February 20, 1967- at the hour- of 7:00 o'clock'p:m. (est). Councilman Backmeyer presiding with the following members being present: Messrs. Bell, Henn, Hilligoss, Hollingsworth, Marino, Paust, Youngflesh and Yount. The following business was had to-wit: IIICouncilman Henn moved the minutes of the previous meeting be approved without being read aloud, seconded by Councilman Hilligoss ,and on voice vote was carried. Councilman Marino moved- the claims and transfers of funds be allowed and paid as follows; seconded by. Councilman Paust: Approve the following: Bills in the amount of $172,107.23' ` Bonds and Interest on 1953 Revenue Bonds 3,303.75 1 -_Payroll 49,755.10 Transfer from Cash Operating Fund to: Depreciation Reserve Fund 36,000.00 Cash Reserve Fund 72,826.85 Utility Bond Fund 24,377.50 Chairman Backmeyer stated that a meeting of this Body, would be held at-the Service Building of the Richmond-Power and Light, Monday, February 27, 1967 at the hour of 7:00 o'clock p.m. . Mr. Beck presented and read the following: February 17; 1967_: :. - III A. E. Beck General Manager After the fund transfers Monday of next week, we will have the;.;following:amounts in the Depreciation and Cash Reserve Funds. Depreciation Reserve Fund Cash $220,721.00 Cash Reserve Fund 86,878.32 We recommend the investment of the following amounts: Depreciation Reserve Fund $180,000.00 ` - Cash Reserve Fund ' 85,000.00 ' ' ' The best buy for the -$180,000.00 of depreciation money would be U.S. Treas.' Notes, 4 3/4% maturing in May, 1968. The best for the $85,000.00 in the Cash Reserve Fund would be U.S. Treas. Bills, maturing December 31, 1967, present yield 4.6%. This has been approved by the Finance Committee and should be officially approved at the next Council Meeting. . . /s/ E. S. Porter Office Manager Councilman Youngfless moved the General Manager be authorized to invest $180,000.00 from Depreciation Reserve Fund- in U.S. Treasury notes maturing May:'1968, and further the investment of $85,000.00 from Cash Reserve Fund in U.S. Treasury Bills, maturing December-31, 1967. Councilman Bell seconded this motion and on voice vote was unanimous- ly carried. Mr. Beck-' presented proof- of= publication of Notice To:Bidders printed in the Richmond Palladium-Item, a newspaper of general circulation, in the City of Richmond,' Indiana, on the dates of February 13-17, 1967. Said notice stated that sealed proposals would be received--until. the-_hour..-.o.f..7:00...o'clock p.m. February 20, 1967, for furnishing the Richmond Power and Light Plant with one new 1967 Model, 6 cylinder 2-door sedan accord- ing to specifications on file. No action was taken on the proof of publication. R.P. & L. minutes 2/20/67 The following bids were. opened and read aloud: .. Kurdys Chevrolet, Inc. Fred First Ford, Inc: Councilman Marino moved the bids be referred to the General Manager for tabulation and recommendation, seconded by Councilman Yount and on voice vote was carried. Mr. Beck presented proof of publication of Notice To Bidders printed in the Richmond Palladium-Item, a newspaper of general circulation in the City of Richmond, Indiana, on the dates of.February 13-17, 1967. Said notice-;stated that sealed, proposals ;would be received :until the hour of 7:00 o'clock p.m. February 20, 1967 . for furnishing the Richmond Power and Light Plant with one new 1967 Model 6-cylinder, 1 ton chassis, with standard cab, approx. 130" wheel-base according to specifica- tions on file. No action was taken on the proof of publication. The following bids were opened and read aloud: Vivian Buick, Inc. Kurdys Chevrolet, Inc. Fred First Ford, Inc. . Councilman Marino moved the bids be referred to the General Manager for tabulation and recommendation, seconded by Councilman Youngflesh and ,on voice vote was carried. Mr. Beck presented proof of publication of Notice To Bidders printed in the Richmond.:,Palladium-Item,< a newspaper of general circulation in- the City of Richmond, Indiana, on the dates of February 13-17, 1967. Said notice stated that sealed. proposals would be received until the hour of 7:00 o'clock p.m. February 20, 1967. for furnishing the Richmond Power and Light Plant with one new 1967 model, 8 cylinder cab-over engine truck, Gross vehicle weight 34,000. lbs. according to, . . specifications on file. No action was taken on the proof of publication. The following bids were opened and read aloud: Vivian Buick, Inc. Fred First Ford, Inc. Councilman Yount moved the bids be referred to the General Manager for tabulation and recommendation, seconded by Councilman Youngflesh and on voice vote was carried. Mr. Beck presented proof of publication of Notice To Bidders printed in the Richmond Palladium-Item, a newspaper of general circulation in, the City of Richmond, Indiana, on the dates of February 13-17, 1967. Said notice stated that sealed proposals would ,be received until the hour of 7:00 o'clock p.m. February .20, .1967 for furnishing the Richmond Power and Light Plant with one heavy duty line--con- struction maintenance body with all steel construction to be mounted on cab over engine chassis of 34,000 G.V.W. according to specifications on file. No action was taken on the proof of publication. The following bids were opened and read aloud: McCabe Powers, St. Louis, Mo. Stahl Metal Products, Inc., Cleveland, Ohio Cannon Engineering and Equipment Co., .Indianapolis, .Indiana„ Mortison Equipment Co., Cambridge City, Indiana Councilman Marino moved the,bids be referred to the General Manager for tabulation and recommendation, seconded by Councilman Yount and on voice vote was carried.
