HomeMy Public PortalAbout12-05-1966 to MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA SERVING AS A COMMITTEE IN CHARGE OF THE OPERATION OF THE RICHMOND POWER AND LIGHT PLANT, DECEMBER 5, 1966 The Common Council of,the City: of.Richmond,. Indiana serving as a committee in charge of the operation of the. Richmond Power and Light Plant met in regular session in the Council Chambers in the City Building in said City, Monday, December 5, 1966 at the hour of 7:00 o'clock p.m. (est). councilman Hilligoss presiding with the following members being present: Messrs. Backmeyer, Bell, Henn, Hollingsworth, Marino, Paust, Youngflesh and Yount. The following business was •had:to-wit:. Councilman Marino moved the minutes of the previous meeting be approved without being IIIread aloud, seconded by Councilman Paust and om voice vote was carried. Councilman Hollingwworth moved the following claims be allowed and paid, seconded by Councilman Henn and on voice vote was carried. f Bills in the amount of $122,984.36 Payment of interest coupons-1953 Revenue Bonds 648.75 1 - Payroll 45,468.56 Chairman Hilligoss announced that the meeting of December 12, 1966 would be held starting at 6:00 o'clock p.m. instead of 7:00 o'clock p.m. There is also' a called meeting of the Executive Board to be in the Service Building at the Whitewater Valley Generating Station December 8, 1966 at the hour of 4:30 p.m.' ' Mr. Beck reported that the State Board of Accounts of. the State of Indiana sent back their report and this report is on file for inspection by anyone interested. The only comment made was that it is deemed necessary that the bond for Mr. Beck be renewed every. year. . Mr. Beck presented the outline of Utility Policy In Regard To Pregnacies ' -This was referred to the Employees Relation Committee for study and recommendation. Mr. Beck reported that there is a need for a new car for the Commercial Department and requested permission to advertise for bids early in 1967. At present there are three cars to .serve _eight employees., Councilman Henn asked if any study had -been-made for III leasing cars for the various departments. Mr. Beck said that a study had been made and the cost was extremely high. Councilman Hollingsworth moved -the -General.Manager be authorized to prepare the specifications and ,advertise for a new car for,, the, Commercial Department. This motion was seconded by Councilman Marino and on voice vote was carried. ' - Mr. Beck reported that the 1959 Dodge Truck used by the line department has 59,000 miles and at-this _point should be traded for a new line department truck. Councilman Yount moved:the.General Manager be authorized to prepare the specifications and advertise for a new truck for the line department, seconded by Councilman Youngflesh and on voice vote was carried. Mr. Beck reported that he had a meeting with the General Manager of the,local General Telephone Company to discuss Residential Underground Construction. Nothing was definitely decided, but there will be more meetings to see, what can be worked out to form a policy of this type of construction in new areas that will be developed. It is the intent to see if a joint construction program would be feasible. Mr. Beck reported that he will take a vacation starting after the date of December 13, 1966 and return early in January 1967. He stated that there will be some bids received on December 19, 1966 for 4.16 KV Circuit Spacer Cable. These bids should be received, opened and read aloud and then be placed in the City Clerk's hands. Councilman ,Yount moved that Office Manager, Earl Porter, be authorized to sign all claims during the period that Mr. Beck is on vacation. This motion._was seconded by:Mr. IIIHollingsworth and on voice vote was carried. Councilman Marino stated that he had received several requests from residents in the ; area around Riley School to be placed in the City of Richmond distribution lines. 1r. Beck stated that a petition would have to be prepared and presented to this body for action on a request of this type.
