HomeMy Public PortalAbout08-01-1966 18$ • MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA SERVING AS A COMMITTEE IN CHARGE OF THE OPERATION OF THE RICHMOND POWER AND LIGHT PLANT, AUGUST 1, 1966 The Common Council of the City of Richmond, Indiana serving as a committee in charge of • the Richmond Power and Light Plant met in regular session in the Council Chambers in the City Building, Monday, August 1, 1966 at the hour- of 7:00 o'clock a.m. (est) . Councilman Hilligoss presiding with the following members_being present: Messrs. Backmeyer, Bell., Henn, Hollingsworth, Marino,- Paust, Youngflesh and Yount.. The following business was had to-wit: • • Councilman Marino moved the minutes of the previous meeting be. approved. without beirg read aloud ;, seconded by Councilman Backmeyer and on voice vote was carried. • Councilman Yount moved-the-following claims be allowed and paid, seconded by, . Councilman Bell and on voice vote was carried. Approved the following Bills in: the amount of - $65,170.79 Payment of Interest Coupons-1953 Revenue Bonds 11,453.75 1 - Payroll 49,998.01 • Mr. Beck presented the following and read aloud: • July 28, 1966 A. E. Beck General Manager • • We now hold an amount of S690,000.00 in 4% U.S. Treasury Notes maturing August 15, 1966. An amount of $560,000.00 of the above is in the Depreciation Reserve Fund and $130,000.00 in the Cash Reserve Fund. • According to information received today, the. U.S. Government is offering - to exchange these la.% notes for U.S. Treasury Certificates, bearing interest at 51% and maturing August 15, 1967. The subscription books will open for these Certificates on Monday, August 1st and close on Wednesday, August 3rd. Our subscription should be placed immedi- ately with the Second National Bank in order to take advantage of this offer. . /s/ E. S.- Porter Officer Manager Councilman Youngflesh moved the General Manager be authorized to purchase U.S. Treasury Certificates maturing August 15, 1967 as above set-out. This motion was seconded by Councilman Marino and on voice vote was unanimously carried-. Mr. Beck presented proof of publication of Notice To Bidders printed in the Richmond Palladium- Item, a local newspaper of general circulation in the City of Richmond, Indiana on -the dates of July 7 - 14, 1966. Said notice stated that sealed proposals would be received until 7:00 o'clock p.m. (est). August 1, 1966 . for furnishing Capacitor Equipment in accordance with-documents on file. Mr. Keller examined the proof of publication and found the same to be correct and in order: Councilman Hollingsworth moved the proof of publication be received and filed ,seconded by Councilman Yount and on voice vote was carried. August 1, 1966 at 7:00 o'clock p.m. (est) being the date and time to open and read aloud proposals received. The following proposals were read aloud: Ohio Brass, Mansfield, Ohio Allis-Chalmers, Indianapolis, Indiana Westinghouse Supply Co., Muncie, Indiana Sangamo Electric, Springfield, Ill. ..Richmond Electric Councilman Yount moved the proposals be referred to the General Manager for final tabulation and recommendation. This motion was seconded by Councilman Youngflesh and on voice vote was carried. Mr. Beck presented proof of publication of Notice To Bidders printed in the Richmond Palladium-Item, a local newspaper of general circulation in the City of Richmond, Indiana on the dates of July 20-27, 1966. Said notice. stated that sealed proposals would be received until the hour- of 7:00 o'clock p.m. (est) for furnish- ing 15 K.V. Cable in accordance with documents now on file. Mr. Keller examined the proof of publication and found the same to be correct and in order. Councilman Yount moved the proof of publication be received and filed, seconded by Councilman Youngflesh and on voice vote was carried. . 1 R7 R.P. & L. The -following proposals -were opened and read aloud. • • Westinghouse Electrid. Supply, Muncie, Indiana' • Universal Electric Co. Councilman Youngflesh moved the proposals be referred to the General Manager for final tabulation and recommendation, seconded by Councilman Marino and on voice vote was carried. Mr. Beck reported that he had made a, survey of the G.P.C. and C.L.C. Rates and both are well within rates of other utilities in the State of Indiana. Mr. Beck recommended that 83 consumers on C.L.R. Rate an 32 consumers on G.P.R. Rate be transferred'to the G.P.C. and C.L.C. rates. Councilman Yount moved the recommendation of the General Manager be concurred with, seconded by Councilman Backmeyer and on voice vote was carried. Mr. Beck presented a request for $425.00 to sun point the Richmond Power and Light recreation program for the period of September 1, 1966 tb August=--31, _1967. .
