HomeMy Public PortalAbout07-18-1966 8 5 MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA SERVING AS A CONNITTEE IN CHARGE OF THE OPERATION OF THE RICHMOND POWER AND LIGHT PLANT, JULY 18, 1966 The Common Council of the City of Richmond, Indiana serving as a committee in charge of the Richmond Power and Light Plant met in regular session in the Council Chambers in the City Building, Monday, Uuly 18, 1966 at the hour of 7:00 o'clock p.m. (est) . Councilman Backmeyer presiding with the following members being present: Messrs. Bell, Hollingsworth, Marino, Paust, Youngflesh and Yount. Messrs. Henn and Hilligoss being absent. The following business was had to-wit: Councilman Bell moved the reading of the minutes of the previous meeting be dispensed with, seconded by Councilman Paust and on voice vote was carried. Councilman Yount moved the claims be allowed and paid, seconded. by Councilman Marino and . on voice vote was carried. Mr. Beck reported a 60 minute peak of 62,160 K_.W. on July 12th and on July 13th, 61,420. It was apparent that the peak on July 13th would have been greater if the wind and rain storm hadn't hit the city. - Beck Mr./reported that specifications had been prepared for the East 15,000 Volt Substation Cables and it is desired by said General Manager that authorization be given to advertise for bids August 1, 1966. Councilman Yount moved the General Manager be authorized to advertise for bids August 1, 1966, seconded by Councilman Hollingsworth and on voice vote was carried. Mr. Beck reported that specifications had been prepared for the East 15,000 Volt Substation. switchboard and it is desired, by said General Manager that authorization be given to advertise for bids August 15, 1966. Councilman Yount moved the General Manager be authorized to advertise for bids August 15, 1966, seconded by Councilman Bell and on voice vote was carried. Mr. Beck reported that three engineers from the Sanderson-Porter had arrived and started III . study on the operation of the Richmond. Power and Light Plant. Mr. Beck reported that the storm that occurred on July 13, 1966 knocked out all communic- ations between the Line trucks and the plant. A study will be made as to the cost of a municipally owned 2-way radio system and the possibility of securing the right to operate in the area of Richmond.
