HomeMy Public PortalAbout02-07-1966 60 MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RICHNOND; INDIANA, SERVING, AS A COMMIT RE IN CHARGE OF THE OPERATION OF THE RICHMOND POWER AND :LIGHT .PLANT • • The Common Council of the City of Richmond, Indiana serving as a committee in charge of the operation of the Richmond Power and Light Plant, met in regular session in the Council Chambers of the -City Hall in said City, Monday, February 7., 1966 at the, hour of 7:00 o'clock p.m. (est) . Councilman Hilligoss presiding with: the following members being present: Messrs. Backmeyer, Bell, Henn, Hollingsworth, :Marino, Faust, Youngflesh and Yount. The following business was had to wit: , . Councilman Youngflesh moved the following correction be made in the January 17, 1966 minutes: The last paragraph,of the minutes should read that Councilman Youngflesh moved Mr. Beck be authorized to. investigate the possibility ,of revising the present 111 rate schedule of the Richmond Power and Light, .seconded by Councilman Marino and on voice vote was carried. • • The Clerk noted this correction. Councilman Hollingsworth moved the minutes of the previous meeting be dispensed with as corrected, seconded by.Councilman Youngflesh and on voice vote was carried. • Councilman.Backmeye r moved the claims be allowed and paid, seconded by Councilman Youngflesh and on voice vote was carried. Approve the following: • Bills in the amount of $126,70.6.36 Payment of Interest Coupons 1953 Revenue 'Bonds, $ 10,233.75: 3 Payrolls $132,889.62 Councilman Faust, Chairman of Buildings and Grounds Committee, submitted the following report onAhe South 3th Street building. - . . 1. That a new building he built on the present location of the South 8th'Street Office.. • • 2. That a temporary office- be located in the downtown area to serve the customers during construction of a, new building. 3. That the committee be authorized to interview architects and recommend to Ill this body. • Councilman Yount moved the- report be accepted, seconded by Councilman Bell and on voice vote was carried. • Chairman Hilligoss stated that a meeting of this body is scheduled in the Utility Building, February 15, 1966 at the hour of 7:00 o'.clock p.m. Chairman Yount gave a report of his meeting with Judge Puckett on future cases in the City Court where damage is done by accidents to City owned property. • Mr. Beck presented a statement of unpaid bills for traffic signals and poles from the - date of December 195I to and including February 1965 in the amount of •$3,377.84. After much discussion, .Councilman Marino moved the amount of $3,377.84 be stricken from the files of the Richmond Power and Light, seconded by Councilman Hollingsworth and on voice 'vote was carried. Mr. Beck presented proof- of publication of notice printed in the Richmond Palladium- Item, a newspaper of general circulation in -the City of Richmond, Indiana, on the dates of January 26, 1966 and February 2, 1966. Said notice showed that sealed pro- posals would be received until the hour of 7:00 o'clock p.m. (est) February 7, 1966 for furnishing one (1) new 1966 Model, 6 cylinder 2-door sedan for use by the Richmond Power and Light. Mr. Kemper, City Attorney, examined the proof of publication and found the same to be correct and in order. Councilman Yount moved the proof of publication be received and filed, seconded by Councilman Hollingsworth *and on voice vote was carried. February 7, 1966 at the hour of 7:00 o'clock p.m. (est) being the date and time to • open and read aloud all proposals received. The following proposals were received . and read aloud: • Kurdys Chevrolet, Inc. $2,240.50 Less Allowance 3662.37 $1,578.13 Fred First, Inc. $1,870.54 Less Allowance $325.00 ' $1,545.54 - .. _ , 16 . It was toted that the- Fred-First, Iric. had failed'to have- the signature .on non: collision'affidavit notarized. Councilman Henn moved that all bids be rejected and re-advertise for the same, seconded by Councilman Backmeyer. After discussion • on the question, Councilman Henn withdrew the motion and .Councilman Backmeyer with- drew the sedond. -Councilman Yount moved the bids be referred to Mr. Beck for tabul- ation and recommendation, seconded by-Councilman Marino and on voice vote was carried. Mr. Beck -presented proof of publication of notice printed in the Richmond Palladium- Item, a newspaper of general circulation. in. the City of Richmond, Indiana, on the dates of January 26, 1966 and February 2, 1966. Said motice showed that sealed pro- posals would be received. until the hour of 7:00 o'clock p.m: (est) February 7, 1966 for furnishing one (1) new 1966 Model Truck with Van-type body, 6 cylinder. engine. Mr. Kemper, City Attorney, examined the proof of publication and found the same to be IIIcorrect and in order. Councilman Hollingsworth moved the proof of publication be received and filed, seconded by Councilman Bell and on voice vote was carried. • February 7, 1966.at the hour of .7:00 o'clock p.m. . (est) being the date and time to open and read aloud the proposals received. The following proposals were opened and read aloud: Kurdy's Chevrolet, Inc. $2,582.50 Less Allowance $7)i .0lh $1,838.46 Fred First; Inc. $2,185.61 Less Allowance $.225.O0 $1,960.61 It -was noted that the Fred First, Inc. had failed to have the signature on the non- collision affidavit notarized. • Councilman Yount moved tl-e bids be referred to Mr.. Beck for tabulation and recommendation, seconded. by Councilman Youngflesh and on voice vote was darried. Mr. Beck requested authorization to receive sealed proposals for one (1) 69,000 Volt Oil Circuit Breaker according to specifications prepared. Councilman Yount moved that this body give authorization to Mr. Beck to prepare the . advertising to receive bids for one . (1) 69,000 Volt Oil Circuit Breaker according - to specifications prepared and, further that the proposals be received until the hour _- of 7:00 o'clock p.m. (est) February 21, 1966. This motion was seconded by Councilman Marino and on -voice vote was carried. Mr. Beck presented a review of the1965 operations of the Richmond Power and Light. Each member of this committee received a copy of this review. There being no further business presented on motion duly made, seconded and carried the meeting adjourned. , 1 .. L/ ' .
