have the right to defend such action.
Before making any excavations in any such streets, alloys,
lanes, avenues, thoroughfares and public grounds in said city for
any purpcsa, such water works shall give at least twenty-four hours'
notice thereof in writing to the city civil engineer, which notice
shall state definately where such excavations are proposed to be
made, and the purpose and extent thereof.
All water to private consumers shall be furnished by meter
measurement at the rates In the following table: the meters for
measuring the same to be furnished by the company free of cost or
rental tc the consumer: -
For twelve -hundred gallons daily, or less 25X per one thous-
and gallons.
For over twelve up to and including the first five thousand
gallons daily, per one thousand. gallons, 15 cents.
