HomeMy Public PortalAbout10-04-1965 44 • MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA SERVING AS A COMMITTEE IN CHARGE OF THE OPEPATION OF THE • RICHMOND POWER AND LIGHT, OCTOBER 4. 196 , The Common Council of the City of Richmond, Indiana, serving as a committee in charge of the operation of the Richmond Power and Light Plant met in regular session in the Council Chambers in the City Hall. in said City Monday, October 4, 1965 at the hour of 7:00 o'clock p.m. (est). Councilman ,Youngflesh presiding with the following members being present: Messrs. Backmeyer, Bell, Henn, Hilligoss, Hollingsworth, Marino, Faust and Yount. The following bLisiness was had to-wit: IllCouncilman Marino moved the-minutes of the previous meeting be dispensed with,. seconded by. Councilman Yount and on voice vote was unanimously carried. Councilman Hilligoss moved the following claims 'be allowed and paid, seconded by Councilman Henn and on voice vote was -unanimously carried. Approve the following: Bills in the amount of • =; 98,505.57 3 - Payrolls 133,440.22 Payment of Int. Coupon_s .1953 Rev. Bonds 138.75 Authorization approved Sept. 20, 1965 Purchase of U.S.Treasury Notes from Cash Reserve Fund $129,878.13 Accured Interest 536.96 $130,415.09 . Mr. Terwilliger presented a legal description of the land he and others proposed to purchase from the City which is owned by the Richmond Power and Light located on U.S.#27 South. This was given to Mr. Beck to file with the propositions that was filed at an earlier date. Mr. Beck presented the final tabulation of the bid received September 20, • 1965 for truck chassis. Ilk The bid of Fred First, Inc. being the only bid received and met with the specifications required. 1 - 1965 Ford Model F-350 p 2,112.19 Trade-in allowance on 1961 truck 550.00 Difference $1,562.19 Mr. Beck recommended the purchase of the truck chassis from Fred'First,, Inc. Councilman Marino moved this committee concur in the recommendation of Mr. Beck, seconded by Councilman Yount and on voice vote was unanimously carried. Mr. Beck presented the final tabulations of the bids received September 20, 1965 - for- Qne (1) Ladder and Utility Body. . Morrison Equipment Co. , ? 5,432.50 Delphi Body Herks t 5,167.50 The following was offered as an option, but not mentioned in the specifications, Mico Brake Lock ;#8800 installed $54.00. Mr. Beck recommended the bid of the Delphi Body Works in the amount of >5,167.50 plus the installation of the Mico Brake Lock #8800 in the amount of $54.00, making a total of 5,221.50. Councilman Marino moved this committee concur in the recommendation of Mr. Beck, seconded by Councilman Bell and on voice vote was unanimously carried. Mr. M'ill.iam H. McConnell, District Coal Agent for the Penna. Railroad Co. and the Long Island Railroad was present to explain 'plan of the Illinois Freight Assoc. to permit the reduction of Fifty Cents (500) per ton freight charge on coal. An Indemity Bond would have to be executed that would guarantee that 90,000 of ton per year, between the period of October 1, 1965 and: September 30, 1966 would be hauled by the railroad. Mr. Beck stated that he anticipated the Whitewater Station and Johnson Street Station would use approx. 132,000_ tons of coal in the year 1966. This rate cut would mean about 0150,00 per day savings 1 -' to the City. Mr. James H. Phillips, C & O.. Railroad assistant Coal Traffic Manager was in attendance. Mr. Phillips said his company was not aware of''this proposed plan, but would like to be considered. Councilman Yount moved that the General Manager be authorized to sign the I demity Bond, provided it meets with the approval of the City .ttorney after his study. This motion was seconded by Councilman Hollingsworth and on voice vote was un- animously carried. There being no further business presented, on motion duly made, seconded and carried the meeting adjourned.
