HomeMy Public PortalAbout19280309SCMeeting86 Mr. H.F.Sharpley presented an agreement to Council thereby, in consideration of his granting the Town the privilege of running a ditch across his property and also electric wires and the plac- ing of poles,the Town was to either fill said ditTich or will lay sewer pipe,also to remove electric light wires and,or poles upon thirty days notice from the owner,a,nd upon motion of ::`r Cgnn,that this agreement be entered into with Mr Sharfkley, seconded by ,nr. Horovitz,the motion passed. Mr. Farr brought up the matter of taxes of the Tybrisa ; r perties, saying that representatives of the Tybrisa. Company h -d takencup <the matter with him,the Central of Georgia, Railway did not return the property for the year 1927 on their original return but subsequently made a corrected return that included the T'ybrisa, properties and paid taxes through December 31,1927,Town Attorney McIntyre had handled the matter ti.. <ith the Mayor and he was of the opinion that taxes should be collected from the Tybrisa Company as of January 1, 1928. The regular meeting of Council was called for today at 4:00 p.m. but as a quorum was not present the meeting was not held. Town of Tybee,GR..,March 9 1928. A special meeting of Council was held tO -day at 4:00 p.m. and attended by the Mayor and Coun c men Horovitz,Espy, Farr and 'Walthour. An application for the position of Electriaal Inspector from George N,Delk was read,but nc action was taken as the Clerk of Council was instructed to investigate and ascertain if he would be acceptable. Several representatives houses selling disinfectants for the �i1 "ling off of misquitos and other insects submitted prices for their products and on motion of Mr Espy that the mayor be given authority to buy what disinfectants he thought would be best and at prices agreed upon by him,seconded by Mr Herovitz,the motion passed. Council noted the day of the coming election for _a Mayor and Six Councilmen for a period of two years,which will be held on Monday April 2, 1928.
