HomeMy Public PortalAbout10-02-1961 1 Ay n MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF COMMON COUNCIL SERVING AS A COMMITTH:h, IN CHARGE OF THE OPERATION OF THE RICHMOND POWER AND LIGHT. • • October 2, 1961 • Regular session was called to order by Chairman Marino at 7:00 P. M. in the Council Chambers in City Hall. Councilman Smithmeyer was absent. The following business was had to wit: - III ,Councilman Johnsen moved that the reading of the minutes of the previous meeting be dispensed with, seconded by Councilman Yount, unanimous voice vote. Chairman Marino asked for a discussion as to whether or not they wished the City Attorney to pursue with. legal action to collect damages against electrical companies for bid-rigging. City Attorney Cecere said it would cost approximately $4,400.00 for the City to become aligned with the task force of Van Scoyoc & Wiskup. Councilman J. Hoskins moved that City Attorney Cecere be sent to Washington, D. C. to investigate the probability of collecting damages before signing•lip in.the Task Force project; Councilman Yount seconded the motion, unanimous voice vote. to participate. General Manager Beck reported that the Whitewater Valley Station would be shut down October 13th for inspection of equipment. He said he hoped to have the . plant back' in operation by October 30th. The load will be carried by the Johnson Street Plant and the Indiana & Michigan Electric Company Interconnection during the shut down. General Manager Eeck said that a full report for the purchase of Public Service of Indiana customers has not been received, but should be soon. The Board of Directors held a discussion on the purchase and retirement of bonds. City Attorney Cecere warned the Directors not to use the light plant's depre- , ciation fund to retire bonds as had been suggested. Councilman Henn moved that the Light Plant. General Manager be authorized to set aside a greater amount each month in the Utility Bond Fund, if available, to purchase bonds when offe�t a savings , seconded by Councilwoman C. Hoskins, „�' -, Councilman Yount moved that the bills in the amount of $83,085.07 2 Payrolls 70,008.97 Interest on Revenue Bonds 687.50 • Total ' $153,781.54 be allowed and paid, seconded by Councilwoman C. Hoskins, unanimous voice vote. • There being no further business, Councilman Youngflesh moved that the meeting be adjourned, seconded by:.Councilman J. Hoskins, unanimous voice vote.
