HomeMy Public PortalAbout01-03-1961 b MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COMMON COUNCIL SERVING AS A COMMITTEE IN CHARGE OF THE OPERATION OF THE RICHMOND POWER AND LIGHT January 3, 1961 Regular session was called to order by Chairman 'Marino at 7:00 PM in the Council Chambers in City Hall. Councilmen Salzarulo and Yount absent; The following business was had to-wit: - - Councilman Johnson, moved that the reading of the minutes of the previous meeting be dispensed with, seconded_by Councilwoman C. Hoskins, unanimous voice vote. • Councilman Johnson, moved that the bills in the amount of $667,195.60 be allowed and paid, seconded by Councilman Smithmeyer, unanimous voice vote. Included in the bills was a transfer of $4.72,530.10 from Cash Reserve Fund to Civil City of Richmond. General Manager Beck explained a $10.00 donation to the Salvation Army to the Board members, as that the money carve from deduction from payrpll to an employees donation fund that was created for donations by employees to various. agencies. Councilman Marino, announced that a meeting of the Board of Directors would be held at the Whitewater Valley Station, at 7:00 PM, January 9, 1961. General Manager Beck, reported that the annual Committee. of 100 dinner meeting would be held on January 25, 1961 at Earlham Hall, and suggested that. res,ervations be turned in to him as soon as possible. Councilman Smithmeyer moved to authorize General Manager Beck to renew the lamp contract with the Miller Bros. Hardware Co,. for 1961, seconded by Councilman Youngflesh, unanimous voice vote. Councilman Smithmeyer, Chairman of the Finance Committee, reported that an .111 amendment had been drafted by City Attorney Cecere to the Depository Act and has been given to local legislators to introduce to the 1961 legislature. Under the Act securities held on deposit in Chicago banks had to be transfered to Richmond banks, resulting in the loss of several thousands of dollars. Councilman J. Hoskins, moved to table a Nuclear Power Reactor Project, submitted by the Atomic Energy Commission as being impractical for Richmond at the present time, seconded by Councilman Johnson, unanimous voice vote.
