MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COMMON COUNCIL
SERVING AS A COMMITTEE IN CHARGE OF THE OPERATION
OF THE RICHMOND POWER AND LIGHT.
November 7, 1960
Regular session was called to order by Chairman J. Hoskins at 7:00 PM
in Council Chambers in City Hall, all members present. The following
business was had to-wit: •

Councilman Smithmeyer, moved the reading-of the minutes of the previous
meeting be dispensed with, seconded by Councilman Johnson, unanimous
voice vote.
Councilman Henn, moved that the bills in the amount of $157,938.46 be•
allowed and paid, seconded by Councilwoman C. Hoskins, unanimous voice
vote.
Councilman Marino, moved to concur with the recommendation of General
Manager Beck to hire the Commonwealth Associates, of Jackson, Michigan
to make plans and an estimate for the purposed new service building,
seconded by Councilman Smithmeyer, unanimous voice vote.
General Manager Beck, reported that the system demand for October was
.98% under October 1959, and the peak load was .07% above October 1959,
in the generation report for October 1960.
The Board hf Directors approved the light-plant office to be closed
Veterans Day November 11th, 1960.
General Manager Beck, reported that freight rates for Indiana coal has
been increased by 7cents per ton.
General Manager Beck, reported the purchase of Revenue Bonds of
$25,000.00 at a discount, with the authorization of Board Chairman
J. Hoskins.
Councilman Marino, moved that authorization be given to General
Manager Beck to invest $200,000.00 in short term bonds, from the
Depreciation Reserve Fund, when the bonds become available, seconded
by Councilman Yount, unanimous voice vote.
Councilman Smithmeyer, moved to approve the light plant budget of
$3,306,500.00 for 1961, submitted by General Manager Beck, seconded
by Councilman C. Hoskins, unanimous voice vote.
There being no further business, the meeting adjourned.
