HomeMy Public PortalAbout05-02-1960 301 MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, SERVING AS A COMMITTEE IN CHARGE OF THE OPERATION OF THE MUNICIPAL ELECTRIC LIGHTING AND PG4ER PLANT. MAY 2, 1960 Regular session was called to order by Chairman J. Hoskins at 7:00 PM, in the Council Chambers in City Hall, all members present. The following business was had to-wit: IIICouncilman Yount moved to dispense with the reading of the minutes of the previous "meeting, seconded by Councilman Youngflesh, unanimous voice vote. Councilman Johnson, moved the bills in the amount of $68,847.96 be allowed and paid, seconded by Councilman Smithmeyer, unanimous voice vote. Mr. Beck, presented two faithful preformance bonds to the committee for approval, one with the United States Fidelity and Guaranty Co. for $15,000.00 covering_'all employees,and a $5,000.00 bond covering only Mr. Beck. Councilman Youngflesh moved that the Chairman sign the bonds as being approved by the committee after being checked by the City Attorney, seconded by Councilman Yount, unanimous voice vote. Mr. Beck, reported he has discussed the transfer of government bonds from a Chicago bank to Richmond with officials of the Second National Bank, the transfer being recommended by the State Board of Accounts. Mr. Beck, asked permission to redeem Revenue Bonds when the opportunity arises to make a profitable purchase, by getting approval from the committee chairman instead of having to wait until a regular meeting of the committee. Councilman Yount moved to grant the permission, seconded by Councilman Marino, unanimous voice vote. Councilman Yount made a motion to grant Mr. Beck permission to advertise for III bids to purchase a tractor and rotary cutter to cut grass and weeds on approx. 50 to 60 acres under Light Plant maintenance, seconded by Councilman Marino, unanimous voice vote. Councilman Yount, moved to concur with the action of the Board of Public Works and Safety, and instruct Light Plant manager Beck to cut the current at the Gilmer Trailer Court May 11, 1960, unless the electrical services come up to the required standards, seconded by Councilman Marino, unanimous voice vote. City Attorney Cecere expressed his opinion, that as the Gilmer Trailer Court has been in continuous violation of regulations and unless the situation is corrected, recozamends the electrical service be-discontinued. There being no further business, Councilman Marino moved the meeting be adjourned seconded by Councilman C. Hoskins, unanimous voice vote. Chairman • -- 44- Attest: ' et Clerk
