HomeMy Public PortalAbout04-04-1960 292 MINUTES OF THE COMMCN COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, SERVING AS A COMMITTEE IN CHARGE OF THE OPERATION OF THE MUNICIPAL ELECTRIC LIGHTING AND POWER PLANT. April 4, 1960 • Regular session was called to order by Chairman J. Hoskins at 7:00 PM, in the Council Chambers in City Hall, Councilman Smithmeyer absent. The following business was had To-Wit: The minutes of the March 21st meeting being corrected, Councilwoman C. Hoskins moved the minutes of the previous meeting be dispensed with, seconded by Councilman Marino. Unanimous voice vote. Councilman Yount moved that the bills in the amount of $214,665.97 be allowed and paid, seconded by Councilman Johnson. Mr. Beck reported that several new street lights have been installed on Main Street, and that new lights would be extended from 4th to 6th Street and 10th to 12th Street in the near future. 071 Mr. Beck, said new street lights that have been installed between the Salisbury Road and West .18th Street on the South side would be turned on tonight, and lights would be installed on the North side soon. Mr. Beck reported the Whitewater Valley Station has had a series of tests and was now ready to assume a full load. . The State Board of Accounts has finished an audit of the Light Plant, and has made three recommendations for the consideration by the Light Plant Committee. (1) A faithful Preformance Bond, which would be a special bond, that would just cover Mr. Beck. (2) The two million dollars of Depreciation Reserve Funds invested in Government Bonds, that are kept in the Continental National Bank & Trust Co. and the Federal Reserve Bank, in Chicago, moved to a public depository within the County. (3) That accumulated money due to be paid the City at .a later date, be invested in short term Government Securities. All three recommendations were referred by members of the Committee to City Attorney Cecere for an opinion. Councilman Marino, inquired about street lights in Spring Grove, Mr. Beck explained he would have lights installed there as they are ordered and paid for by them, and the Light Plant has rates established to charge for current supplied them.
