HomeMy Public PortalAbout03-07-1960 2 9' MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, SERVING AS A COMMITTEE IN CHARGE OF THE MUNICIPAL ELECTRIC LIGHTING AND POWER PLANT. March 7, 1960 Regular session was called to order by Chairman J. Hoskins at 7:30 PM, in the Council Chambers in City Hall, Councilman Smithmeyer was absent, and it was reported that he is in the Robert Long Hosipital at Indianapolis for X-rays and observation. The following business was had To-Wit. Councilman Marino moved that the minutes of the previous meeting be dispensed with, seconded by Councilman Yount. Unanimous voice vote. Councilman Youngflesh moved that the bills in the amount of $91,549.80 be allowed and paid, seconded by Councilman Salzarulo, unanimous voice vote. This date had been set for the opening of sealed bids for a new automobile to be used by the Light Plant to replace a 1953 Chev. which is to be used as a trade in on the new car. The following bids were received: E.W. Parrish & Sons Rambler $1575.00 Dea Meadows Ford Ford 1692.61 Dea .Meadows Ford Falcon 1567.61 • Kurdys Chev. Corvair 1535.25 Ridenour Auto Sales Lark 1735.00 Councilman Marino moved that the bids be. taken under advisement, and referred. to Mr. Beck for study of specifications, and recommendation, seconded by Councilman Salzarulo, unanimous voice vote. Mr. Beck reported that the generation for February 1960 was 13.45% over February 1959, and the peak load was 2.69% more than February 1959. Mr. Beck reported on the progress of the repairs to the Whitewater Valley Plant, said that parts shipments had been delayed by the heavy snows, but replacement parts were coming in now and he thought that the Plant would be back in operation by April 1, as originally planned. Mr. Beck submitted proposals from the Light Plant Employees Committee on behalf of all Employees on matters of wage adjustments, vacation plans and sick leaves. The Light Plant Committee of Councilman referred the proposals to Mr. Beck for study and recommendation, to be discussed at the next meeting, March 21, 1960. City Attorney Cecere read a letter from the Indiana-Michigan Electric Co. concerning the initial draft of the proposed bill of sale, from the Indiana Michigan Electric Co. to the City of Richmond, Indiana for interconnection facilities. Mr. Beck said that before his approval of the draft a few changes in the wording would be made by him. There being no further business the meeting adjourned. Chairman Attest: Clerk
