MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COMMON COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND,INDIANA, SERVING AS
A COMMITTEE IN CHARGE'OF THE OPERATION OF THE
MUNICIPAL ELECTRIC LIGHTING AND POWER PLANT,
MONDAY, NQVEMBER 18, ,1957

Regular meeting called to order at 7:00 TM in Council Chambers in City Hall, Council-
man Marino presiding. Councilwoman Hoskins absent. The following business was had,
to-wit;
It was moved and seconded that the minutes of the previous meeting be dispensed with.
Unaminous.
Councilman Thomas moved the bills be allowed. Seconded by Councilman Smithmeyer,
Unaminoup.
Councilman Smithmeyer requested that in the future all transfers of funds be approved
by resolution by the Light Plant Committee and Mr. Beck said that he would bring all
such transfers to the attention to the Committee

Mr. Beck reported that he had discussed with school officials the possibilities of
heating new schools with electricity at-a rate of 1.5 cents School officials asked for
a rate of .75 cents, Mr Beck stated this was not a reasonable rate and that he will
meet with the school board for further discussion.
The committee gave Mr. Beck approval to negotiate a new contract with Indiana-Michigan
and study the possibility of buying all power if it is cheaper than generating it at .
the Johnston Station Plant. Mr. Beck said. he would report his findings back to council.
Claims in the amount of $149,646.78 Caere allowed. Of this amount, the following trans.
. fers were made:
$24,626.94 from Cash Operating Fund to Cash Reserve Fund
$30,229.1.6 from Cash Operating Fund to Utility Bond Fund -
$36,000.00 frog, Cash Operating .Fund to Depreciation Reserve Fund,
There being no further business, the meeting adjourned,
