MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COMMON COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND,INDIANA, SERVING AS
A 'COMMITTEE IN CHARGE OF THE OPERATOR OF THE
MUNICIPAL ELE✓TRIC -LIGHTING AND POWER PLANT.
MAY 20, 1957, MONDAY
Regular meeting called to order 'at 7:00 PM in Council'Chambers in City Hall
Councilman Marino presiding. Councilmen Crum and Vivian being absent. -
The following business was had; to...wit
Councilman Smithmeyer moved the reading of the minutes of the previous meeting
be dispensed with. Seconded by Councilman Walterman. Unaminous. .
Councilwomen Hoskins moved the bills be allowed. Seconded by Councilman Salzarulo.
Unaminous.

_ Mr. Beck reported that Robert Reese Light Plant Engineer, had been in Ashville, N.G.
to attend a General Electric sponsored school on street lighting to secure informa-
. tion for better street lighting in Richmond.

Mr. Beck said he had attended a meeting of the Indiana Municipal Electric Associa-
tion meetin,�and cited the Logansport case •that is before the PSCI. He said the'
future of utilities might well depend on the outcome of this case. He said
also the future existance of paMeitilities depended on long range planning
and urged the members of the Light Plant Committee to think of the future of the
Richmond Municipal electric Lighting and Power Plant.
Mr. Beck said he would send the contract with the Indiana-Michigan Power'Co. to
all Councilman for their study.
Claims in the amount of $257,909.71 were allowed. Of this amount the following
transfers were made:
$30,520.82. from Cash Operating fund to HEI PP Bond Fund Cash
$23,166.07 from Cash Operating Fund to MEI&PP Cash Reserve Fund
$36,.000.00 from Cash Operating Fund to MET.,&PP Depreciation Reserve Fund-Cash
There being no further business, on motion duly made and seconded the meeting
adjourned.
