OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANiA, SERVING AS
A COMMITTEE IN CHARGE OF THE OPERATION OF THE
MUNICIPAL ELECTRIC LIGHTING AND POWER PLANT.
MONDAY, JUNE 4, 1956
The Common Council of the City ,of Richmond, Indiana, serving as a Committee in
Charge of the Operation of the Municipal Electric Lighting and Power Plant, met in
regular session in the Council Chambers in the City Hall in said City, Monday, June 4,
1956., at the hour of 6:00 o'clock P.M. (CST).. Councilman Salzarulo presiding with the
following members being present: Messrs. Crum, Eastman, Hoskins, Marino, Smithmeyer,
Thomas, Vivian and W►altermann. The following business was had, to-wit:
Councilman Smithmeyer moved and Councilman Crum seconded that the minutes of the .
previous meeting be approved as published. •
Councilman Crum moved and Councilman Smithmeyer seconded that the bills be allowed.
The meeting was turned over to Mr. Beck.
Mr. Beck reported that the generation for May was 5.6% over May, 1955 and that the
peak load was 4.67% over Nay, 1955.
Mr. Beck reported that in 1954 he had been contacted by other utilities asking the
Light Plant Office to work on a five (5) day week schedule (Monday_ through Friday).
Hr. Beck presented a schedule showing the method of payment of light bills during
the month of May, 1956, .which showed that 7% of all bills were paid at the Light
Plant Office on Saturday A.I . Mr. Beck requested that consideration be given to
this proposal and a trial be made with other Richmond utilities to see of a five
(5) day week meets with public approval.
Councilman Smithmeyer moved that the Light Plant contact the other Richmond
utilities regarding closing on Saturday A.M. and that it be put on a trial basis
for the summer months, seconded by Councilman Thomas and on voice vote was un-
animously carried.
Mr. Beck said he had received a letter from the Richmond Sesquicentennial Com-
mittee asking the Light Plant to contribute $25.00 to help with the Sesquicentennial
celebration. This amount would be repaid after the celebration is overt Mr. Beck
recommended that he donate this money from his own funds rather than from Light
Plant funds. This met with the approval of Council.
Claims in the amount of $155,675.61 wdre allowed. Of this amount the following
transfer was made: The sum of
$30,812.51 from Cash Operating Fund to Utility Bond Fund
Councilman Eastman moved and Councilman Smithmeyer seconded that the meeting be
adjourned.
