HomeMy Public PortalAbout02-06-1956 1. 88' MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, SERVING AS A COMMITTEE IN CHARGE OF THE OPERATION OF THE • MUNICIPAL ELECTRIC LIGHTING AND POWER PLANT. MONDAY, FEBRUARY 6. 1956, The Common Couhcil of the City of Richmond, Indiana, serving as a Committee in Charge of the Operation of the Municipal Electric Lighting and Power Plant, met in regular session in the Council Chambers in the City Hall in said City, Monday, ' February 6, 1956, at the hour of 6:00 o'clock P.M. (CST). Councilman Salzarulo presiding with the following members being present: Messrs. Crum, Hoskins, Marino, Thomas, Vivian and Waltermann. Councilmen Eastman and Smithmeyer being .absent. The following business was had, to-wit: Councilman Marino moved and Councilman Vivian seconded that the minutes of the Light Plant meeting held January 16, 1956 be approved as published. Councilman Marino moved that the M.E.L. & P.P. membership fee of $300.00 for membership in the Committee be approved. Councilman Crum seconded the motion ' and on voice vote was unanimously carried. The other bills were unanimously approved. The meeting was turned over to Mr. Beck. Mr. Beck reported that the generation for January 1956 was 9% above the same period of 1955. At this rate of increase, he explained, the generation load will double in ten years. Mr. Beck reported that the Whitewater Valley Station was in good shape after the month shut-down with the exception of certain coaling equipment. He also report- ed that there are still several contracts outstanding and that they would be • cleared up when the equipment is functioning to his satisfaction. Mr. Beck made recommendations for street lights as requested in the petition from property owners requesting lights on South "F" Street between 17th and 19th The estimated cost if $397.42. • Councilman Marino moved and Councilman Vivian seconded that the recommendation of Mr. Beck be accepted and was carried by voice vote. Mr. Beck also reported that January showed the largest monthly industrial bill ing in the history of the Plant. • Claims in the amount of $184,626.33 were allowed. Of this amount the following transfers were made: The sum of $20,641.91 from Construction Account Fund to Cash Operating Fund' 2,462.81 from Depreciation Reserve Fund to Cash Operating Fund There being no further business presented, on motion duly made, seconded and carried, the meeting adjourned. • 1 Chairman Attest: ( / City Clerk
