The Board of Public Works of the City of Richmond, Indiana,
;ret in regular session at the Office of said Board on Friday,
rebruary, 16th, 10069 at 10 0 Clock A. id. All the membersor
said Board, Yessr's, Zeller, Davenport and Rosa, beingpreser
the following proceedings were had, To -wit: -
The Following Communication was received from James Parsoner•
St. Petersburg, Fla, Feb 1st,
To The Mayor and Board of Public Works:-
Gentlemen:- I hereby tender my res-
ignation as Chief of the Richmond Ind Fire Department, totmh
effect upon the appointment of my successor. I am im"lle"
take this step on account of ill health which renders me onN
to perform the duties incident to such service. I desire to
return my sincere thanks to your honorable body for uniform
kindness and consideration during my connection with the Fin
Department of the City. With best wishes for the success of
the Richmond Fire Department, I remain very truly yours,
James Parsons.
On Motion of hire llavennort, the resignation of 1dr. Parsons'
was accepted, and the blerk instructed to send the following
letter to Mr. Parsons,

A Petition for the improvement of 'Pearl strut, from Hest First
to West Third street, By the construction of cement sidewalks
of the width of Six feet was received, and referred to the Eng-
ineer for plans and estimate of costs,
A Communication was received from the South Side Improvement
Association asking for the privelege to dedicate the New Hose
House in the South part of the City, The same will be filed
with the Common Council with a recommendation that the req-
uest be granted.
The matter of the condemnation of certain ground along the
river for the benefit of the Municipal Electric Lighting &
Power Plant, as provided for in Decbaratory Resolution number
5 was taken up, and after some consideration was again poste
poned for one week.
The Engineer presented plans for the improvement of Charles
street, from Boyer street to the West terminal of Charles
street, By the construction of cement sidewalks on both sides
thereof, and cement curbs and gutters, also for the grading,
and graveling of said street, and Improvement Resolution number
45 was thereupon unanimously adopted.
The Clerk then presented a Resolution for the construction of
a 12 inch pipe sewer in South 21st, street, from the Trunk
sewer about three hundred feet south of South A street, North
to South A street, and Improvement Resolution number 46 provi-
ding for said Improvement was thereupon unanimously adopted.
The following bids were received for the construction of t'+e
Improvement provided for by Improvement Resolution number 199
John H. A. Schneider Bid 19� per square foot.
Daniel G. Burkhardt Hid 1551 per square foot.
Charles E, Henshaw Bid $1.17 per lineal foot,
The following bids were received for the Improvement provided
for in Improvement Resolution number 27•
Charles is. Henshaw Bid "$!6!k $1.33 per lineal foot.
John h. A. Schneider Bid $2.20 per lineal foot.
Daniel G. Burkhardt Bid $1.70 per lineal foot.
In Motion of Mr. Rosa, The contracts for these improvements,
numbers 19 and 27 were awarded to Charles E. Henshaw, all the
members of the Board voting in the al' fIrmative.
The contract for the construction of the Improvement provided
for by Improvement Resolution number r�9, was awarded to John H.
A• Schneider, He being the only bidder for said work, on motion
Of Mr. Rosa, His Bid being 73- rer lineal foot for same.
