HomeMy Public PortalAbout04-05-1954 132 MINUTES OF THE MEETING 'OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, SERVING AS A COMMITTEE IN CHARGE OF THE OPERATION OF THE MUNICIPAL ELECTRIC LIGHTING AND POWER PLANT. MONDAY, APRIL 5, 1954. The Common Council of the City of Richmond, Indiana, serving as a committee in charge of the operation of the Municipal Electric Light- ing and Power Plant, met in regular session in the Council Chambers in the City Hall in said City, Monday, April 5, 1954, at the hour of 7: 00 o' clock P.M. (CST) . Councilman Tracy presiding with the follow- ing members being present: Messrs. Alkire, Eastman, Kettelforder, Law, Marino, Riggleman, . Salzarulo and Youngflesh. The following business was had, to-wit: On motion duly made, seconded and carried, the minutes of the pre- vious meeting w ere dispensed with. The Clerk presented proofs of publication printed in the Richmond Palladium-Item, a newspaper of general circulation in said. City, on the 15th and 22nd days of March, 1954, that sealed proposals would be received by this committee until the hour of 7:00 o' clock P.M. (CST) , for furnishing f. o.b. cars at an industrial spur track to be designated by the owner in Richmond, Wayne County, Indiana: Wood Transmission Poles, Wood Transmission Crossarms, Cable and - Wire, Transmission Line Hardware and One (1) 69 KV Substation. On motion duly made, seconded and carried, the proofs were received and ordered filed. . The committee met at the hour of 7: 00 o' clock P.M. ( CST) to receive, open and read aloud bids received as published. The following bids were received for the 69 KV Substation: Joslyn Company $12,892. 00 Southern States Equip. Corp. 16, 728. 34 R. I. & E. Equip. 16,207. 00 Richmond Electric Co. 12,892. 00 Westinghouse Electric 16, 465.00 Delta Star 16, 410. 31 All of the above bids were referred to the General Manager and Engineers for tabulation and recommendation. The following companies bid on the Wood Transmission Poles, Wood Transmission Crossarms., Cable and Wire, and. Transmission Line Hard- ware. Joslyn Co. , B.J. Carney, Midland Wire, Line Material, R. G. Haley Co. , Anaconda Wire & Cable, Richmond. Electric, Westinghouse Electric, Graybar, Southern Electric Co. , and Porcelain Products. All of these bids were referred to the General Manager and Engineers for tabulation and recommendations. The General Manager stated that the Engineers recommended that all bids received ford the Intercommunication System for the new plant be rejected and readvertise for same. The General Manager concurred with this recommendation of the Engineers. On motion duly made, seconded and carried, the General Manager was given authority to readvertise for bids for the Intercommunication System. The General Manager presented quotations for a 2500 KVA Substation as follows: General Electric $24, 491. 00 - Westinghouse Electric 22, 961. 00 Allis Chalmers 24, 621. 00 On recommendation of the General Manager, Councilman Eastman moved that the quotation of the Westinghouse Company be accepted. This motion was seconded by Councilman Youngflesh and. carried. 13a The claims in the amount of $696, 472. 22 were allowed. Of this amount the following transfers were made: The sum of 25, 604. 16 from Cash Operating Fund to Utility Bond Fund 20, 643, 54 from Cash Operating Fund to Depreciation Reserve Fund Cash 25,000. 00 from Cash Operating Fund. to Cash Reserve Fund 249, 809. 83 from Construction Accbunt Fund to Cash Operating Fund.
