HomeMy Public PortalAbout03-15-1954 130 MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, SERVING AS A COMMITTEE IN CHARGE OF THE OPERATION OF THE MUNICIPAL ELECTRIC LIGHTING AND POWER PLANT. MONDAY, MARCH 15, 1954. The Common Council of the City of Richmond, Indiana, serving as a committee in charge of the operation of the Municipal Electric - Lighting and Power Plant, met in regular session in the Council Chambers in the City Hall in said City, Monday, March 15, 1954, at the hour of 7: 00 orclock P.M. ( CST) . Councilman Tracy presiding 11 with the following members being present:- Messrs. -Alkire, Eastman, Kettelforder, Law, Marino, Riggleman, Salzar•ulo and Youngflesh. The following business was had, to-wit: On motion duly made, seconded and unanimously carried, the minutes of the previous meeting were dispensed with. The Clerk presented the proofs of publication that sealed bids would be received on this date for furnishing and installing an Intercommunication System for the new Power Plant. On motion made by Councilman Eastman, seconded "by Councilman Law and unanimously carried, the proofs were ordered received and filed. The General Manager opened and read aloud the following bids: Seward B. I' It 1. t15, 250. 00 II II 2. 7, 942.00 II II 3. 23, 192. 00 Councilman Youngflesh moved that the above bids be referred to the General Manager and Engineers for their tabulation and recommendations. The City Clerk presented the proofs of publication that sealed pro- posals would be received for the renting of approximately 45 acres of ground located at the new Light Plant site for farming purposes. On motion made by Councilman Law and seconded by Councilman Alkire and unanimously carried, the proofs were received and ordered filed. The General Manager opened and read aloud the following bids: Mort Rhoades 1-yr. d$20. 00 per acre 3-yrs. q14. 00 per acre 3-yrs. $10. 00 II u M. A. Jay 3-yr. basis @ p12. 00 per acre Howard Clark 1-yr. with 2 yr. option 8l5. l5 per acre George Bullerdick, Inc. 88. 00 per acre Buckland Bros. 3-yr. basis $13. 00 .per acre L. Wurtenberger & Son $16. 00 per acre. Alternate 35%, to owner 65% to renter Lloyd Pope 810. 00 per acre 3 All the above bids had provisions for "crop rotations" and fertilizer applications which will have to be considered. On motion made by Councilman Alkire, seconded by Councilman Law and unanimously carried, the bids were referred to the General Manager, Light Plant Committee and City Attorney Chambers to tabulate and award the bid to the best and highest bidder. The Committee allowed the claims in the sum of 8286, 464. 78. COUNCILMEN LAW AND MARINO ON THE CLAIMS FOR APRIL, 1954.
