HomeMy Public PortalAbout12-21-1953 • 122 • MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, SERVING AS A COMMITTEE IN CHARGE OF THE OPERATION OF THE MUNICIPAL ELECTRIC LIGHTING AND POWER PLANT. MONDAY, DECEMBER 21, 1_53.. The Common Council of the City of Richmond, Indiana, serving as a committee in charge of the operation of the Municipal Electric Lighting and Power Plant, met in regular session in the Council' Chambers in the City Hall in said City, Monday, December 21, 1953, at the hour of 7:00 o 'clock P.M. _(CST) . Councilman Eastman presiding . with the following members being present: Messrs. Alkire, Baldwin, Kettelforder, Law, Marino, Salzarulo, Tracy and Youngflesh. The • following business was had, to-wit: On motion duly made, seconded and unanimously carried, the minutes • of the previous meeting were dispensed with. Mr. Beck reported that final approvement had been given by the • Public Service Commission of Indiana for the Light Plant to serve of three customers on the Boston Pike that had orginally belonged to the Public Service Company of Indiana. Tracy moved and Alkire seconded that the General Manager be authorized to enter into a . '. Bill of Sale for the property that serves these customers. The motion was carried unanimously on voice vote. Mr. Beck outlined the future expansion of customers west of West 18th Street and recommended the installation of a sub-station on a plot of ground on N.W. 20th Street, just north of the proposed extension of West Main Street. The ground needed can be purchased from Mrs. Opal Brooks for the sum of $600, 00. Marino moved_ that the Light Plant be authorized to request the Board of Public Works and Safety make the purchase for the Light Plant, seconded by Baldwin and on voice vote was unanimously carried.. The Employee ' s Committee of the Light Plant submitted a Proposal for an increase of wages to the employees of the Light Plant. Mr. Beck stated that he hadn' t had time to go over the proposal and recommended that he be given more time to make a thorought study. . The committee unanimously consented to this request. Petitions were Presented requesting street lights at the following locations: North "C" Street, between North 13th and l4th Streets North 13th Street, between North "G" and "H" Streets North 14th Street, between North "G" and "H" Streets • The Chairman appointed a committee composed of Councilma.n .Law, Alkire and Tracy to make an investigation and submit recommendations, _ • Claims in the amount of $164, 676:56 were allowed. The following transfers were made: The sum of $25, 000.00 from Cash Operating Fund to Cash Reserve Fund 25, 604.00 from Cash Operating Fund to Utility Bond Fund_ Cash 20,4.98. 90 from Cash Operating Fund to Depreciation Reserve Fund Cash , 14 , 006. 94 from • Construction Account Fund Cash to Cash Operating Fund 16, 190.00 from Construction Account Fund. Cash to Cash 11. Operating Fund. ._: There being no further business presented on motion duly made, se- _ conded and carried, the meeting adjourned.
