HomeMy Public PortalAbout11-16-1953 118 MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, SERVING AS A COMMITTEE IN CHARGE OF THE OPERATION OF THE MUNICIPAL ELECTRIC LIGHTING AND POWER PLANT. ' MONDAY, NOVEMBER 16 1953. The Common Council of the City of Richmond, Indiana, serving as a committee in charge of the operation of the Municipal Electric Lighting and Power Plant, met in regular session in the Council ` Chambers in the City Hall in said City, Monday, November 16, 1953, at the hour of 7:00 o' clock P.M. ( CST) . Councilman East- man pre-siding with the following members being present: Messrs. Alkire; Baldwin, Kettelforder, Law, Marino, Salzarulo, Tracy and Youngflesh. The following proceedings were had, to-wit: On motion duly made, seconded and unanimously carried, the minutes of the previous meeting were dispensed with. The Clerk presented proofs of publication printed in the Richmond Palladium, a newspaper of general circulation in the City of Richmond, Indiana, on the dates of October -20-27, -1953, that sealed bids would be received on this date until the hour of - 7:00 o' clock P.M. (CST) for furnishing five (5) single circuit steel transmission towers and (alternate) five- (5) double. circuit steel transmission towers. The proofs -were ordered re- ceived and filed, on motion duly made seconded and- unanimously carried. The following bids were received, opened and read aloud: Flint Steel Corp. Item I $14, 173.00 Item II 25,235.00 • U. S. Steel Corp. Item I 9, 19, 000. 00 • . Item II 23,000, 00 Bethlehem Steel, Corp. Itemi I '17,285.00 Item II - 22, 300.00 Aermotor Company Item I $15, 850.00 - • - • 23, 350.00 . On motion duly made, seconded and unanimously carried, all bids were referred to the Engineers to tabulate and recommend their findings at the next regular meeting. - Mr. Beck submitted a plan for - the installation of four (4) new street lights in the area of South 24th Street between Reeveston Road and South "E" Street at an approximate cost of $178.00 per light. Councilman Kettelforder moved that the 4 street lights be in- stalled as set out in the plans submitted, seconded by Councilman Tracy and on voice vote the motion was unanimously carried. Chairman Eastman appointed Councilmen Alkire, Law and Tracy as a committee to investigate the request for a street light at the entrance of alley on North "C" Street between North 7th and 8th Streets. Councilman Law moved that an ordinance be prepared for Council for. the 1954 Light Plant Budget. This motion was seconded by Councilman Youngflesh and on voice vote the motion was unanimously carried. The claims in' the amount of s;136, 080. 65 were allowed. Of this amount the following transfers were made; The sum of 025, 604-,00 from Cash Operating Fund to Utility Bond Fund 5$20, 428.36 from Cash Operating Fund to Depreciation Reserve Fund G25, 000.00 from Cash Operating Fund to Cash Reserve Fund. 1` 9: There being no further business presented on motion duly made, seconded and carried, the meeting adjourned.
