THE COMMON COUNCIL . - OF THECITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, SERVING AS A COMMITTEE IN CHARGE OF THE OPERATION OF THE MUNICIPAL ELECTRIC LIGHTING AND POWER- PLANT. TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 8, 1953 The Common Council of the City of Richmond, Indiana, serving as a committee in charge of the operation of the Municipal Electric Light- IIing and Power Plant, met in regular session in the Council Chambers in the City Hall in said City, Tuesday, September 8, 1953, at the hour of 7: 00 o° clock_P.M. (CDST) . Councilman Eastman presiding with the . following members being present: Messrs. Alkire, Baldwin, Kettel- f order, Law, Marino, Salzarulo, Tracy and Youngflesh. The following proceedings were had, to-wit: _ On motion duly made, seconded and unanimously carried, the minutes of the previous meeting were dispensed with. e Councilman Tracy moved that` the request from the Richmond Merchants for the Light Plant to furnish current for Christman lighting be taken under advisement, seconded by Councilman Baldwin and on voice vote the motion was unanimously carried. The Clerk presented proofs of publication printed in the Richmond Pall- adium-Item, a newspaper of general circulation in said City on the 20th and 27th day of August, 1953, that sealed bids would be received on this date at the hour of 6: 00 o' clock P.M. ( CST) for renting LNO acres of ground on south edge of the plot of ground recently pur- chased by the City for the construction of the new Generating Station under the terms outlined in said ad. On motion duly made, seconded and unanimously carried the proofs were ordered received and filed. The following bids were opened and read aloud: II L. Wurtemberger & Son 815.50 per acre Howard J. Clark 5. 00 " " Howard J. Clark $ .0. 00 " '! All bids were taken under advisement and referred to the General Manager and City Attorney for their study and recommendations. Councilman Alkire moved that the General Manager be authorized to expend the sum of $75.00 from the Light Plant Funds to sponsor two (2) bowling teams in leagues for the 53-5L bowling season for entrance fees, bowling ball as a prize and cleaning shirts. This motion was seconded by Councilman Salzarulo and on voice vote was unanimously carried. On motion duly made, seconded and carried, the General Manager was authorized to purchase a new addressograph machine to replace the present one which was purchased in the year 1930. The price is $1, 100.00 minus $40. 00 trade-in on old machine, making a net of „q1, 060.00. . The claims in the amount of S443, 717. 9L were allowed. Of this amount the following transfer was made: The sum of {150, 000. 00 from Sinking Fund to -Cash Operating Fund There being no further business presented, on motion duly made, se- conded and carried, the meeting adjourned.
