MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COMMON COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF RiCHMOND, INDIANA, SERVING AS
A COMMITTEE IN CHARGE OF THE OPERATTION OF' THE
MUNICiPAL ELECTRIC LIGHTING AND POWER PLANT,
MONDAY, JULY 6, 1953. -
•
The Common Council of the City of Richmond, Indiana, serving as a
committee in charge of the operation of the Municipal Electric Light-
ing and Power Plant, met in regular session in the Council Chambers
in the City Hall in said City, Monday, July 6, 1953, at the hour of
7: 00 o ' clock P.M. (COST). Councilman Eastman presiding with the
'following members being present: Messrs. Alkire, Baldwin, Law, Marino,
and' Tracy. Councilmen Ketteif order, Salzarulo and Young.f lesh. being
absent. The following proceedings were had , to-wit:
On motion duly made, seconded and unanimously carried the minutes Of
the previous meeting were dispensed with:
A request for a street light at the end of Railer Street was presented
and the Chairman appointed a committee composed- of Councilmen Alkire,

• Councilman Ma.rinO moved that this committee recommend_ to the Board of
Works the installation of stret lighting on the new over-pass bridge
according to plans on file in the office of the General Manager of . -
the Light Plant, seconded by Councilman Alkire and on voice . vole, wee
unanimously carried.
The General Manager presented. the analysis of the bids received on
June 15, 19 3 for Outdoor Metal-Clad Sw i tchgear to be used for a new
substation to be constructed in the- Northwest part of Richmond . All
bids received were in proper form. As a result of detailed study and
discussions with the Engineers and Operating Personnel of the Light
Plant, the decision was made to purchase Air Circuit Breakers. The
lowest bid received was that of the Allis-Chalmers Mfg. Corp. However,
this company does not meet the reauir•ements es outlined in the contract
documents ' under the qualification of bidders for furnishing Air
Circuit Breakers. The next lowest bid was that of the General Electric
Company in amount of r 101, 834. 00, The Muncie 'Construction Corp. re-
commended - that the bid of the General Electric Company be accepted and
the General Manager concurred.

Councilman Tracy moved that the bid of the General Electric Company be
accepted, seconded by Councilman Baldwin and on voice vote the motion
was unanimouly carried.
Mr. Beck submitted the following proposals for tree triming service:

As a result of a study and discussion with the personnel of the Line

Dept. , Mr. Beck recommended that the proposal of the Townsend Company
be accepted
Councilman Marino moved that the proposal of the Townsend Company be
accepted seconded by Councilman Tracy and on voice vote the motion was
unanimously carried, -

the plant and the bid of Willoughby Chevrolet Company be accepted.
Councilman Law moved that the bid of the Willoughby Chevrolet without
the trade-in in the sum of ' l, 412,54 be accented, seconded. by Council-
man Alkire and on voice vote was unanimously carried.
The committee allowed the claims in the amound of .;303, 312, 28. Of
this sum, the amount of >,1O0, OOO. OO was transferred from the Sinking
Fund Cash to Cash Operating Fund.
There being no further business presented, on motion duly made, seconded
and carried, the meeting a.d. ounred.
