HomeMy Public PortalAbout05-18-1953 1:1 5d MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, SERVING AS A COMMITTEE IN CHARGE OF THE OPERATION OF THE MUNICIPAL ELECTRIC LIGHTING AND POWER PLANT. MONDAY, MAY 18,-1953. The Common Council of the City of Richmond, Indiana, serving as a committee in charge of the operation of the Municipal Electric Lighting and Power Plant, met in regular session in the Council Chambers in the IICity Hall in said City Monday, May 18, 1953, at the hour of 8: 30 o' clock P.M. (CDST) . Councilman Eastman presiding with the following members being present: Messrs. Alkire, Baldwin, Kettelforder, Law, Marino, Salzarulo, Tracy and Youngflesh. The following business was had, to-wit: On motion duly made, seconded and carried, the minutes of the previous meeting were dispensed with. The Clerk presented proofs of publication printed in the Richmond, Palladium-Item, a newspaper of general circulation in the City of Rich- ,,, mond, Indiana, on the dates of April 14 , and 21, 1953 that sealed pro- *-n posals would be received on this date until the hour of 7: 00 o' clock P.M. (CST) for furnishing and erecting complete at the Whitewater Valley Station of the Municipal Electric Lighting and Power Plant in Richmond, Wayne County, Indiana, Power wiring and lighting of power house and. auxiliary structures all in accordance with documents now on file at the office of the City Clerk of said City. On motion duly made, seconded and carried, the proofs of publication were received and ordered filed. The following bids were received, opened and read aloud: Wente Construction Co. , Inc. , Hamilton, Ohio $241,597.00 The Wagner-Smith Co. , Dayton, Ohio 24.3, 445.00 IIBertke Electric Co. , Cincinnati, Ohio 372,500, 00 Watson-Flagg Eng. , Co. , Indianapolis, Indiana 224,500. 00 Gustav Hirsch Organization Inc. , Columbus, Ohio 207, 4400. 00 The Sanborn Electric Co. , Indianapolis, Indiana 263,200. 00 Evans Electrical Const. Co. , Kansas City, Mo. 281,570.00 A.S. Schulman Electric Co. , Chicago, Illinois 253, 335.00 All the above bids were referred to the Consulting Engineers and Mr. Beck for tabulation and recommendations. Claims in the amount of $138, 338.06 were allowed. Of this amount the following transfers were made: The sum of $25, 000.00 from Cash Operating Fund to Cash Reserve Fund $15,000.00 from Cash Operating Fund to Sinking Fund Cash • S20,003. 00 from Cash Operating Fund to Depreciation Re- serve Fund Cash 4, 921.44- from Depreciation Reserve Fund Cash to Cash Operating Fund.
