MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, SERVING AS A COMMITTEE IN CHARGE OF THE OPERATION OF THE MUNICIPAL ELECTRIC LIGHTING AND POWER PLANT. MONDAY, MARCH 16, 1953. The Common Council of the City of Richmond, Indiana, serving as a committee in charge of the operation, of the Municipal Electric Light- ing and Power Plant, met in regular session in the Council Chambers in the City Hall in said City Monday, March 16, 1953, at the hour of 8: 30 o' clock P.M. ( CST) . Councilman Eastman presiding with the follow- ing members being present. Messrs. Alkire, Baldwin, Kettelforder, Law, Marino, Salzarulo, Tracy and Youngflesh. The following business was had, to-wit: On motion duly made , seconded and carried, the minutes of the previous meeting were dispensed with. Councilman Alkire, Chairman of the committee appointed to investigate the need of a street light at the intersection of South 6th and "N" Streets, reported that it is recommended that a light be installed at said intersection, Council unanimously approved the installation of said street light. The same committee reported that it is deemed necessary to have street _ lights installed at the intersection of South 3rd and "P" Streets and on South "L" Street between South 5th and 7th Streets. The Clerk was instructed to advise the Board of Works about the need of these street lights. Mr. Beck advised Council that bids would be received for general con- struction of the Whitewater Valley Station main building structure and specified auxiliary structure April 20, 1953, at 7: 00 o' clock P.M. (CST) . Mr. Beck presented the tabulation of bids for the engineering services for the construction of a 69 KV line and a 20 MVA Substation to connect the new generating station with the present system. He recommended acceptance of the bid of the Muncie Construction Company of Muncie, Indiana to furnish engineering services on this project fora fee of four and one-half percent (42%) of the total cost of material and labor less $600 allowance for engineering work performed to date. Council concurred unanimously to accept the bid of the Muncie Con- struction Company. Councilman Tracy moved that the sum of five percent (5%) of the gross revenue of the Light Plant earnings be set aside in the Depreciation Reserve Fund Cash, seconded by Councilman Alkire and on voice vote was unanimously carried. Said action to be effective in next transfers. Claims in the amount of $14.0, 878. 4.6 were allowed. Of this amount .the following transfers were made: The sum of $23, 226.80 from Cash Operating Fund to Depreciation Reserve Fund Cash. The sum of $25,000. 00 from Cash Operating Fund to Cash Reserve Fund. The sum of S15,000.00 from Cash Operating Fund to Sinking Fund Cash. The sum of p3, 951.59 from Depreciation Reserve Fund to Cash Operating Fund. There being no further business presented on motion duly made, seconded II and carried, the meeting adjourned.
