MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COMMON COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, SERVING AS
A COMMITTEE IN CHARGE OF THE OPER4TION OF THE -
MUNICIPAL ELECTRIC LIGHTING AND POWER PLANT.
MONDAY, FEBRUARY 2, 1953.
The Common Council of the City of Richmond, Indiana, serving as .a
committee in charge .of the operation of the Municipal Electric Light-
ing and Power Plant of said City, met in regular session in the Council
Chambers in the City Hall in said City, Monday, February 2, 1953, at
the hour of 8: 00 o' clock P.M. ( CST) . Councilman Eastman presiding
with the following members being present: Messrs. Baldwin, Law, Marino,
Salzarulo, Tracy and Youngflesh. Councilmen Alkire and Kettelforder '
being absent. The following business was had, to-wit:
On motion duly made, seconded and carried, the minutes of the previous
meeting were dispensed with.
The Clerk presented proofs of publication printed in the Richmond
Palladium-Item, a newspaper of general circulation in the City of
Richmond, Indiana on the dates of January 19-26, 1953, that sealed
proposals would be received on this date for furnishing and erecting
complete at the Whitewater Valley Station of the Municipal Electric
'Lighting and Power Plant in Richmond, Indiana: Auxiliary structure
consisting of a cooling tower basin and circulating water pump house .
and General Grading at the Plant Site. The proofs Were ordered re-
ceived and filed.
The following bids were received, opened and read aloud: Auxiliary

General Grading. of Plant Site.
Mike Delucio and Sons, Richmond, Indiana:
For grading the plant site in complete
accordance with the specifications and plans,
based on an estimated 32, 000 cu. yds, of
excavation, the lump sum of $ 10,560. 00
Adjustment unit price per cu. yd. for
variation from the estimated excavation
of 32, 000 cu. yds. o. 33
Harmon and Sons, Inc. , Richmond, Indiana:
For grading the plant site in complete
accordance with the specifications and plans,
based on an estimated 32, 000 cu. yds. of
excavation, the lump sum of S 14, 400.00

DeBolt Concrete Co. , Richmond, Indiana:
For grading the plant site in complete
accordance with the specifications and plans,

Councilman Tracy moved that all of the above bids be referred to the
General Manager and Black and Veatch, Engineers, for tabulation and re-
commendation, seconded by Councilman Youngflesh and on voice vote the
motion was unanimously carried.
Mr. Beck presented the following quotations on a Business Coupe to
replace #2 Dodge ton truck with general service body that has been

used by the Meter Department since 1947. All of the bids were quoted
as net difference.

Councilman Tracy moved that the bid of the Willoughby Chevrolet Company
be accepted, seconded by Councilman Law and on voice vote the motion
11 was unanimously carried,
Mr. Beck recommended that 1-2500 Kva 13, 800/4.160/2400 wye volt trans-
former be purchased and presented the following quotations:

On recommendation of Mr. Beck, Councilman Tracy moved that the bid of
Westinghouse be accepted, seconded by Councilman Marino and on voice
vote was unanimously carried.
The following claims were allowed in the amount of $110, 725. 25.
There being no further business presented, on motion duly made, seconded
and carried, the meeting adjourned.
