OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, SERVING AS
A COMMITTEE IN CHARGE OF THE OPERATION OF THE
MUNICIPAL ELECTRIC LIGHTING AND POWER PLANT.
MONDAY, JANUARY 19, 1955.
The Common Council of the City of Richmond, Indiana, serving as a
committee in charge of the operation of the Municipal Electric Light-
ing and Power Plant of said City, met in regular session in the Council
Chambers in the City Hall in said City, Monday, January 19, 1953, at
the hour of 8: 00 o ' clock P.M. . ( CST) . Councilman Eastman presiding 111
with the, following members being present: Messrs. Alkire, Baldwin,
Kettelforder, Law, Marino, Tracy and Youngflesh. Councilman Sal-
zarulo being absent. The following business was had, to-wit:
On motion duly made, seconded and carried, the minutes of the previous
meeting were dispensed with.
On recommendation of the members of the Richmond Fire and Casualty
Insurance Association, Councilman Law moved that Mr. Beck be authorized
to. prepare advertising to receive bids for material and labor for a
sprinkler system in the Light Plant building and Utility building,
seconded by Councilman Marino and on voice vote was unanimously
carried.
On motion made by Councilman Youngflesh, seconded by Councilman Marino
and- carried unanimously on voice vote, the Clerk was authorized to
instruct the Board of Works to remove the light post in front of the
Taxi Office on South 8th Street and install a parking meter.
Councilman Baldwin gave a report on the financial report of the Reid
Memorial Hospital and urged that consideration be given by this
Committee to furnish said hospital with more free current than had
been donated in the past.
Motion was made by Councilman Alkire that $4,000. 00 be allowed in free
current to the Reid Memorial Hospital for the year 1953. This motion
was seconded by Councilman Tracy and on voice vote was carried. Council-
man Baldwin being the only member voting in the negative.
On recommehdation of Mr. Beck, Councilman Law moved that Mr. Beck be
authorized to proceed with removing the 'wooden structure on the rear
of the Light Office and replace with a brick one story addition with
metal fire escapes to the second and third floors. All work to b'e
_done by Light Plant employees under the supervision of the Crabree-
Maule Company.
Mr. Beck advised this committee that on February 2, 1953, bids would
be received for furnishing and erecting complete, at the Whitewater
Valley Station of the Municipal Electric Lighting and Power Plant in
Richmond, Wayne County, Indiana:
Auxiliary structures consisting of a cooling
tower basin and circulating water pump house.
General Grading of the Plant Site.
all in accordance with documents now on file at the office of the City
Clerk, in the City Building, in Richmond, Indiana.
The committee allowed the claims in the amount of $5. 08, 735. 69. The
following transfers were allowed:
2, 454.55 from Depreciation Reserve Fund Cash to Cash
Operating Fund;
825,000.00 from Cash Operating Fund to Cash Reserve Fund;
23, 149. 95 from Cash Operating Fund to Depreciation Reserve
Fund Cash;
0.5,000.00 from Cash Operating Fund to Sinking Fund Cash.

There being no further business presented, on motion duly made,
seconded and carried, the meeting adjourned,
