HomeMy Public PortalAbout12-15-1952 85, MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, SERVING AS A COMMITTEE IN CHARGE OF THE OPERATION OF THE MUNICIPAL ELECTRIC LIGHTING AND POWER PLANT. MONDAY, DECEMBER 15, 1952. The Common Council of the City of Richmond, Indiana, serving as a commit- tee in charge of the operation of the Municipal Electric Lighting and Power Plant of said City, met in regular session in the Council Chambers 11 in the City Hall in said City, Monday December 15, 1952, at the hour of 8:00 o' clock P.M. ( CST) . Councilman Eastman presiding with the follow- ing members being present: Messrs. Alkire, Kettelforder, Law, Marino, Salzarulo, Tracy and Youngflesh. Councilman Baldwin being absent. The following business was had, to-wit: On motion duly made, seconded and carried the minutes of the previous meeting were dispensed with. Mr. Beck presented the following tabulations on the bids received for m Reinforcing Steel for the new plant site: --4 ,:i Bidder Base Bid Escalation Adjustment Price 4 Ceco Steel Products Corp® $104, 945. 00 Firm $139. 00 per ton Hugh J. Baker and Co.. 105, 700. 00 Firm 140. 00 " " On recommendation of Black & Veatch, Consulting Engineers, and concurrence by Mr. Beck, Councilman Marino moved that the bid of the Ceco Steel Products Corp. be accepted, seconded by Councilman Tracy and on voice vote was unanimously carried. - Mr. Beck presented the following tabulations on the bids received for Structural Steel for the new plant site:11 - In order to place the three low bids on a comparable basis, the total tonnage of structural steel each bidder based his price upon was compared with the Black & Veatch estimate of total tonnage and the base price was then adjusted with the adjustment Price in the bidder' s proposal. The bid of Oberle-Jorde was also corrected to the grating figures of Black & Veatch as their figure on 1-1/2" grating was apparently higher than the quantity of grating required. Adjusted Price $379, 978. 00 395, 659.51 376,06T 00 On recommendation of Black & Veatch, Consulting Engineers, and concurrence of Mr. Beck, Councilman Law moved the bid of the Pittsburgh-DesMoines bid be accepted, seconded by Councilman Tracy and on voice vote was unanimously I/ carried. Inc. 19, 003. 43 1, 900.34 20, 903. 77 On recommendation of Black & Veatch, Consulting Engineers and concurrence by Mr. Beck, Councilman Tracy moved the bid of the Crane Company be 84 accepted, seconded by Councilman Kettelforder and on voice vote the motion was unanimously carried. On motion made by Councilman Alkire, seconded by Councilman Youngflesh and unanimously carried on _voice vote the following was adopted, that . concerns the vacation plans of the employees of the Light Plant. PROPOSED VACATION PLAN Upon completing fifteen years (15 yrs)• continuous service, an employee will be required to work a total of 1550 hours per year to qualify for an. additional one week (4.0 hrs). vacation period or a total of three (3) weeks (120 hrs. ) vacation period. If the employee works less than 1550 hours, but more than 1200 hours, he/she will be entitled to two (2) weeks • ( 80 hrs. ) vacation period. After completing two years (2 yrs. ) service an employee will be required to work a total of 1550 hours per year to qualify for a two (2) week (80 hr. ) vacation period. If the . employee works less than 1550 hours but more than 1200 hours, he/she will be entitled to one week (4.0 hrs. ) . vacation period. Vacation period to be arranged with Department Head and, so far as practical, employee shall have the right to choose the time of his vacation .on a. seniority basis. The claims in the amount of $255,849. 28 were allowed. The following transfers were made: Sum of ,$15, 000.00 from Cash Operating. Fund to Sinking Fund Cash; Sum of $23,088.80 from Cash Operating Fund to Depre— ciation Reserve Fund; Sum of E25, 000.00 from Cash Operating Fund to Cash Reserve Fund.
