MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, SERVING AS A
COMMITTEE IN CHARGE OF THE OPERATION OF THE
MUNICIPAL ELECTRIC LIGHTING AND POWER PLANT
MONDAY, AUGUST 4, 1.952
The Common Council of the City of Richmond, Indiana, serving as a
committee in charge of the operation of the Municipal Electric Lighting
and Power Plant, met in regular session in the Council Chambers in the
City Hall in said City, Monday, August 4, 1952, at the hour of 7: 30
o' clock P.M. (CST) . Councilman Eastman presiding with the following
members being present: Messrs, Alkire, Baldwin, Law, Marino, Salzarulo,
Tracy and Youngflesh, Councilman Kettelforder being absent. The
following business was had, to-wit:
On motion duly made, seconded and carried, the minutes of the previous
meeting were dispensed with.
Councilman Tracy moved the transfer of the sum of 300,000.00 from the
Cash Operating Fund to the Cash Reserve Fund and that this be paid to
the Civil City of Richmond, Indiana, as the dividend January 1, 1953.
Councilman Marino seconded this motion and on voice vote was carried.
Mr. Beck presented the following report:
Cash Fund Balances July 31, 1952.
Cash Operating Fund $273, 281. 36
Cash Reserve Fund , 300,000.00
Depreciation Reserve Fund 536, 903.54
Sinking Fund 300,000.00
Councilman Youngflesh moved that the City Clerk be authorized and
instructed to send a letter to the Board of Public Works and Safety
requesting that said Board proceed as provided for in Ordinance Number
14.52-1952 for the purchase of real estate and securing easements and
right of ways for the purpose of securing a site for the new light
plant. Seconded by Councilman Alkire andon voice vote was carried.
Councilman Marino voting no.
The proofs of publication printed in the Richmond Palladium-Item, a
newspaper of general circulation in the City of Richmond, Indiana, on
the dates of July 24 & 31, 1952, stating that this Body would receive
and open sealed proposals for furnishing Closed Feedwater Heaters, Bear-
ing Water Heat Exchanger, Deaerator, Boiler Feed Pumps, Circulating
Water Pumps, Cooling Tower Make-up Pumps, Auxiliary Pumps, Compressed
Air Equipment and one Cooling Tower, were presented and ordered filed.
All bids were opened and read aloud. Councilman Tracy moved that all
bids be referred to the General Manager for tabulation and recommendation;
seconded by Councilman Baldwin and on voice vote the motion was carried.
The Committee approved the installation of street lighting on S. W. 19th
Street from National Road to Western Drive.
A petition for street lighting on Ridge Street from N.W. "K" to N.W. "L"
Streets was referred to a committee composed of Messrs. Alkire, Salza-
rulo and Tracy for recommendation,
The Committee allowed the claims in the sum of 107, 833.26.
There being no further business presented, on motion duly made, seconded
and carried, the meeting adjourned.
