The following business was had, to-wit: On motion duly made, seconded and carried, the minutes of the previous meeting were dispensed with. The following letter was presented and read: May 15, 1952 To the Common Council Richmond, Indiana ;-^ . Gentlemen: The Citizens Light Plant Advisory Committee has met, pursuant to the request of the Common Council, to consider the best available site for the location of a new plant. It has considered the following: 1. Expansion of the Present plant in river bottom. 2. The American Aggregates Corporation site east of the City. 3. The Miller Farm near the Test bridge. 4. The Harry Gilbert farm south of the City. It is the unanimous opinion of the Committee that the present plant should not be expanded by the installation of additional capacity be- cause of inadequate area, water and coal storage space. Further, that of the other sites investigated, the Gilbert farm is best suited for the purpose of a new plant, but that in the planning of such plant, all necessary equipment should be installed to eliminate, as far as possible, all smoke- and vapor nuisance. . One of the main reasons for recommending the Gilbert farm is that by using the adequate water supply below the Disposal Plant, there will be no danger of impairing the Community' s primary water supply. Respectfully submitted, G.W. Frame, Chairman William M. Romey Walter Rudolphsen Robert H. Wiechman J.W. Kelly B. F. Harris Mr. Beck reported that one of the transformers at the plant was out of service due to a failure undetermined at this time. A standby transformer is in service now. Mr. Beck will submit a plan to replace this trans- former after an investigation is made to see if a new one can be secured II immediately. Mr. Beck reported that Black & Veatch, Engineers and the C & 0 Railroad officials have made a complete survey of the Gilbert site and a full re- port should be ready for Council at the next regular meeting. Plans are being made to install a permanent power line to serve the Richmond State Hospital with city generation. i Th'e claims in the amount of 1 110, 151.88 were allowed. There being no further business presented,—en motion duly made, seconded and carried, the meeting adjourned. t./ • Chairman Attest: ity C
