HomeMy Public PortalAbout10-15-1951 42 MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE' CITY OF RICBMOND, INDIANA, SERVING AS A COMMITTEE IN CHARGE OF TEE OPERATION OF THE MUNICIPAL ELECTRIC LIGHTING AND POWER PLANT, MONDAY. OCTOBER 15, 1951. , The Common Council of the City of Richmond, Indiana, serving as a committee in charge of the operation of the Municipal Electric Lighting and Power Plant, met in regular session in the office of the Board of Public Works and Safety in the City Hall in said City, Monday, October 15, 1951, at the hour of S:30 o'clock P.M. Councilman-Harris presiding with the following members being present: Messrs. Baldwin, Chambers, Law, Marino, Myers, 111 Tracy and Youngflesh. The following business was had, to-wit: On motion duly made, seconded and unanimously carried, the minutes of the previous meeting were dispensed with. Mr. Beck presented his proposal for the wage rates for employees of the Light Plant and commented that they met with the approval of the Light Plant Employees' Committee. Mr. Beck said that the pay schedule was in line with the pay rates of other utilities. Councilman Tracy moved that the wage recommendation of the General Manager be accepted and put into effect as of November 1, 1951. Councilman Law seconded this motion and on voice vote was carried. Chairman Harris recommended the:.General Managerls salary be increased not less than $100.00 per month. Mr. Harris cited the good work that Mr. Beck has been. doing since he has been in the capacity of General Manager. Councilman Law moved that Mr. Becks salary be increased $100.00 per month, effective Novem- ber 1, 1951. Councilman Tracy seconded this motion and on voice vote was carried. Mr. Beck reported that he and City Attorney Haworth were in a meeting with Indianapolis Bond Attorneys relative to the financing of the proposed ex- pansion program. The steps taken so far had been carried out legally. Mr. Beck reported that three sites are now being considered for the new plant and he would make a recommendation in the near future after further study. All Council members are urged to be in attendance at the bid openings Monday, October 29, 1951, at the City Hall. The Committee allowedthe claims in the amount of $118,086.39. Of this amount the following transfer were allowed: the sum of $25,000.00 from Cash Re- serve Fund to Civil City of Richmond; the sum of $21,84+5.00 from Cash Operat- ing Fund to Depreciation Reserve Fund Cash; the sum of $15,000.00 to Sinking Fund.
