PROCEEDINGS OF TEE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND,
INDIANA, SERVING AS A COMMITTEE IN CHARGE OF THE OPERATION
OF THE MUNICIPAL ELECTRIC LIGHTING AND POWER PLANT, MONDAY,
OCTOBER 16, 1950.
The Common Council of the City of Richmond, Indiana, serving
as a committee in charge of the operation of the Municipal
Electric Lighting and Power Plant, met in regular session in
the office of the Board of Public Works and Safety in the
City Hall in said City, Monday, October 16, 1950, at the hour
of 8: 30 o' clock P.M. Councilman Harris presiding with the follow-
ing members being present: Messrs, Baldwin, Chambers, Eastman,
Law, Myers, Russell and Tracy. The following proceedings were
had, to-wit:
On motion duly made, seconded and carried, the minutes of the
previous meeting were dispensed with.
Mr. Beck presented the following bid from the Westinghouse Com-

3 - Protectors 5, 60.00

Councilman Tracy moved that the bid of the Westinghouse Company in
the total amount of $19,512.00 be accepted. Councilman Eastman
seconded the motion and on voice vote it was unanimously carried.
The committee instructed Mr. Beck to purchase enough "Mercury
Vapor" street lights for a temporary installation of two blocks
on a heavily traveled street in the city. This experiment to
be used as a "yard-stick" to determine if this type of lighting
will be satisfactory for lighting on the new bridge,
The. committee unanimously consented to Mr. Beck taking a week' s
vacation, starting October 21, 1950.
Mr. Haworth reported that the hearing on the rate case had been
heldMonday, October 16, 1950 and he believed everything that
was asked for would be granted.
The committee allowed the claims in the amount of $68, 914. 73.
This amount included the following transfers: Transfer the sum
of $34Oo79 from Depreciation Reserve Fund Cash to the Operating
Fund; $21, 328, 75 from the Cash Operating Fund to Depreciation
Reserve Fund Cash.
There being no further business presented, on motion duly made,
seconded and carried, the meeting adjourned.
