HomeMy Public PortalAbout10-02-1950 12 PROCEEDINGS OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, SERVING AS A COMMITTEE IN CHARGE OF THE OPERATION OF THE MUNICIPAL ELECTRIC LIGHTING AND POWER PLANT, MONDAY, OCTOBER 2D, 1950. The Common Council of the City of Richmond, Indiana, serving as a committee in charge of the operation of the Municipal Electric Lighting and Power Plant, met in regular session in the office of the Board of Public Works and Safety in the City Hall in said. City, Monday, October 2d, 1950, at 8:30 o' clock P.M. (C. S. T. ) . Council- man Harris presiding with the following members being present: Messrs. Baldwin, Eastman, Law, Marino and Myers. The following pro- ceedings were had, to-wit: On motion made , seconded and carried, the minutes of the previous meeting were dispensed with, Mr. Beck presented the following bids for Relay and Testing Truck for Light Plant: Dodge 1/2 Ton 02, 450.00 Ford - 1/2 Ton 02, 253. 65 International 1/2 Ton $2, 372.56 Councilman Marina moved that the bid of the International be accept- ed, seconded. by Councilman Baldwin and on voice vote, was unanimous- ly carried. Mr. Beck presented the following bids for 2000 KVA Unit Sub-Station to be placed on the land recently purchased on the Henley Road . South: All were quoted without tap changers under load. General Electric �18, 208. 00 Westinghouse 16, 641.00 Allis Chalmers ;'17, 350.00 Councilman Law moved that the bid of the Westinghouse be accepted, seconded by Councilman Eastman and on voice vote, was unanimously carried. Mr. Beck presented .the following bids for 1500 KVA transformers to be set in back of the Wayne Works: Allis Chalmers $8, 240.00 General Electric $8, 353.00 Wagner $8, 353. 00 Westinghouse $8, 180.00 Councilman Marino moved that the bid of the Westinghouse be accepted, seconded by Councilman Myers and on voice vote, was unanimously carried. Chairman Harris outlined to the members of this committee of the drastic increase of power demand that has been put on the Light Plant the past two months. The peaks having reached 29, 400 K.W. and the "firm capacity" being 28,000 K.W. , it is now deemed necessary that some action be taken by this Body to get standby energy from some out- side source. It was also pointed out that the industrial load will be increased approximately 2400 K.W. by equipment that will be installed by industry within the next six months. Councilman Law moved that Mr. Beck be authorized to contact all utili- ties for bids to furnish interconnection service for the Light Plant. Councilman Eastman seconded this motion and on voice vote, was unani- mously carried. The committee unanimously approved of the General Manager receiving bids for a new car for the General Manager' s ,use . The bids to be sub- mitted to :this Body when received.
