PROCEEDINGS OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
RICHMOND, INDIANA, SERVING AS A COMMITTEE IN CHARGE
OF THE OPERATION OF THE MUNICIPAL ELECTRIC LIGHTING
AND POWER PLANT, MONDAY, SEPTEMBER_18�_12 0,`______
The Common Council of the City of Richmond, Indiana, serving as
a committee in charge of the operation of the Municipal Electric
Lighting and Power Plant, met in regular session in the office of
the Board of Public Works and Safety in the City Hall in said
City, Monday, September 18, 1950, at 7:.30 P.M. (C. S. T. ) . Council-
man Chambers presiding as Chairman Pro-tem with the following
members being present: Messrs . Baldwin, Eastman, Law, Marino,
Myers, Russell and Tracy. The following proceedings were had, to-
wit
On motion duly made, seconded and unanimously carried, the minutes
of the previous meeting were dispensed with.
The committee took under advisement the proposition of a local
barber desiring to rent the Men° s Comfort room at the Light Plant
Office for a Barber. Shop.

d Mr. Beck reported that the Plant has a supply of coal that would
last approximately 73 days.
Mr. Beck advised the committee that some of the material had been
purchased for the new 13.8 KV line to the Belden and Crosley switch-
gear. It might be requested at a later date to receive bids to do
the work as the Light Plant line department is and will be too busy
to do the installing of said line.
The General Manager presented the rules and regulations of the
Municipal Electric Lighting and Power Plant to be filed.
The following bids were received on Current Limiting Reactors for
Street Lighting purposes:
WESTINGHOUSE $1, 318.00
GENERAL ELECTRIC G1, 329.00 •
Councilman Tracy moved that the bid of the Westinghouse Company be
accepted, seconded by Councilman Marino, and on voice vote, the
motion was unanimously carried.
On motion made by Councilman Tracy, seconded by Councilman Baldwin
and unanimously carried, the General Manager was authorized to re-
ceive bids for a truck to be used by the Testing Department of the
Light Plant. This truck to house testing equipment to be used by
said Department.
A Memorandum was filed with the committee between the Municipal
Electric Lighting and Power Plant and the Local Union No. 564 of .
the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers affiliated
with the A. F. ofL. This Memorandum was referred to Mr. Beck for
further study and recommendations.
The commitp9f eyt equest for street lighting along Peacock
Road from/N. 1tiT13t eet, •until the Engineering Department checks
II with lighting; engineers as to what type light would be best suited
for this street.
Mr. Beck reported a Mercury Type street light had been placed at the
intersection of South 5th and G Streets and he would •like for each
member. 'of Council to view it.
The Committee allowed Claims in the amount of 72, 074. 46. The
following transfers were allowed in this amount: $21, 261.9)4 from
Cash Operating Fund to Depreciation Reserve Fund; $2, 608.11 from
Depreciation Reserve Fund to Cash Operating Fund.
There being no further business presented, on motion made, seconded
and carried, the meeting adjourned.
