PROCEEDINGS OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA,
SERVING AS A COMMITTEE IN CHARGE OF THE OPERATION OF THE MUNICIPAL
ELECTRIC LIGHTING- AND POWER PLANT, TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 5 , l950.
The Common Council of the City of Richmond., Indiana, serving as a committee
in charge of the operation of the Municipal Electric Lighting and. Power
Plant , met in regular session in the office of the Board of Public Works
and Safety in the City Hall in said. City, Tuesday, September 5 , 1950,
at the hour of 7: 30 P.M. ( CST) . Councilman Chambers presiding as Chair-
man Pro-tem with the following members being present: Messrs. Baldwin,
Eastman, Law, Marino, Myers, Russell and Tracy. The following proceed-
ings were had, to-wit:
On motion duly made, seconded and unanimously carried, the minutes of
the previous meeting were dispensed with.
Mr. Beck reported that the generation at the Plaint was increasing over
the same month of 1949, The coal supply was estimated to be 64 days '
on hand.
On motion made by Mr. Marino, seconded. by Mr. Eastman and unanimously
carried, the General Manager was authorized to allow payment of i';4O.00
• entry fee from Light Plant funds to sponsor L bowling teams from the
Light Plant for the season 1950-51.
The petition for street lighting in the Clear Creek Drive Addition was
- referred. to Messrs. Baldwin, Eastman and Law to investigate and report
their recommendation to this committee .
The petition for ornamental lighting along Peacock Road, from Northwest
5th Street to Northwest 13th Street was referred to the Council as a
whole for their investigation and recommendations.
City Attorney, Clifford Haworth, briefly outlined the procedure that
had been taken to get the Twentieth Century Bridge project started.
It was explained that the' County was not obligated to participate in
the installation of Street Lighting on said Bridge. It will be the ob-
ligation of the City or Light Plant to pay for the installation of
street lights. No action was taken at this time on the cuestioh of
who would pay for the installation of street lights on said bridge .
Councilman Law stated in view of the fact that the figures of genera-
tion as given by Mr'. Beck shows that some thought should be taken to-
ward bargaining with some Utility for stand--by service in the very
near future. No action was taken on this.
The committee allowed the claims in the amount of 8O, 1..70, L'r1. The
transfer of the sum of 2, 353. 87 from the Depreciation Reserve Fund
to Cash Operating Fund was included_ in this amOunt allowed_.
- , There••being no further business presented, on motion duly made, second--
ed and unanimously carried, the meeting adjourned.
