HomeMy Public PortalAbout08-21-1950 9 PROCEEDINGS OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, SERVING AS A COMMITTEE IN CHARGE OF THE OPERATION OF THE MUNICIPAL ELECTRIC LIGHTING AND POWER PLANT, MONDAY, AUGUST 21, 1950. The Common Council of the City of Richmond, Indiana, serving as a committee in charge of the operation of the Municipal Electric - Lighting and Power Plant, met in regular session in the office of the Board of Public Works and Safety in the City Hall in said City Monday, August 21, 1950, at the hour of 7:30 P.N. (CST) . Council- man Harris_ presiding, with the following members being present: Messrs. Baldwin, Chambers, Eastman, Law, Marino, Myers, Russell and Tracy. The following proceedings were had, to-wit: On motion duly made, seconded and carried, the minutes of the pre- vious meeting were dispensed with. Mr. Eastman moved that the General Manager be authorized by this committee to enter into a contract with the Manufacturer' s- Apprais- al Company to proceed with Annual Service Upkeep Service on build- ing appraisal at a cost of 5'03150,00. This motion was seconded by d, ` Mr. Tracy and on voice vote was unanimously carried and so ordered. Mr. Law moved that the street light petition, requesting the in- stallation of a street light on Peacock Road near N. W. 17th Street, be rejected. This motion was seconded by Mr. Baldwin and on voice vote the motion was unanimously carried. Mr. Beck submitted a letter from the Board of Works requesting the Light Plant to proceed with plans to install street lighting along North "Du Street and the new bridge in accordance with plans of Pierce & Gruber, Engineers, The committee withheld action on the matter until a committee composed of Messrs. Chambers, Law and IIHaworth investigate to see if the Light Plant is to install said lights at the expense of the Light Plant. Said committee to make their report to this committee at a later date. Mr. Beck submitted the following bids for replacement of the 4100 volt --Seitchgear at the Plant: I. T.E. 57,266. 00 WESTINGHOUSE 57, 744. 00 GENERAL ELECTRIC 58,52300 On recommendation of Mr. ' Beck, Councilman Marino moved- that the bid of the Westinghouse Company be accepted. This motion was seconded- by Councilman Eastman and on voice vote the motion was unanimously carried. The committee allowed the claims in the amount of 92, 617. 66. The transfer of the sum of $21, 203.21 from Cash Operating Fund to De- preciation Reserve Fund Cash was allowed.
