HomeMy Public PortalAbout06-05-1950 3 PROCEEDINGS OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, SERVING AS A COMMITTEE ' IN CHARGE OF THE OPERATION OF THE MUNICIPAL ELECTRIC LIGHTING AND POWER PLANT, MONDAY, JUNE 5, 1950. The Common Council of the City of Richmond, Indiana, serving as a committee in charge of the operation of the Municipal Electric Lighting and Power Plant met in regular session in the office of IIthe Board of Public Works and Safety in the City Hall in said City Monday, June 5, 1950, at the hour of 7:30 o' clock P.M. (CST) . Councilman Harris presiding, with the following members being present: • Messrs. Baldwin; Chambers, Eastman, Law, Marino, Myers, Russel and Tracy. The following proceedings were had, to- wit: . On motion duly made, seconded, and carried, the minutes of the previous meeting were dispensed with. ,;n The Committee unanimously approved of the Light Plant furnishing the necessary material and labor to light the Roosevelt Hill for the American Legion 4th of July project this year as has been the custom in the past. • The petition for the installation of a streetlight near N.W. 17th and- Peacock. Road was referred to Councilmen Baldwin, Eastman and Law to investigate and recommend. The Committee authorized• the .General Manager to purchase a new 150 H.P. motor from the General Electric Company at the cost of $2, 304. 12. This motor is to replace the turbine drive on #3 Turbine Driven Pump. On motion made by Councilman Law, seconded by Councilman Tracy, and IIcarried by unanimous vote, the General Manager was authorized to start the work of installing a new 30!' pipe line ' frorn the present cooling tower to the ;4 deep well at a cost of approximately $14, 000.00. This project is being done to make it possible to operate all turbines on spray pond and cooling tower exclusive of river water except for makeup purposes. . The General Manager gave out copies of the Exhibits that 'were presented to the Public Service Commission for the hearing on the rate adjustments case. • The Committee allowed the claims in the amount of $103, 164e72.
