HomeMy Public PortalAbout05-15-1950 2 PROCEEDINGS OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND, IND. , SERVING AS A COMMITTEE IN CHARGE OF THE OPERATION OF THE MUNICIPAL ELECTRIC LIGHTING AND POWER PLANT, MONDAY, MAY 15TH, l950. The Common Council of the City of Richmond, Indiana, serving as a committee in charge of the operation of the Municipal Electric Lighting and Power Plant met in regular session in the Office of the- Board of Public Works and Safety in the City Hall in said City, Monday, May 15, 1950, at 7: 30 o' clock P.M. (CST) . Council- man Harris presiding with the following members being present: Messrs. Baldwin, Chambers, Eastman, Law, Marino, Myers, Russell - and Tracy. The following proceedings were had, to-wit: On motion made, seconded and carried, the minutes of the previous meeting were dispensed with. - The Presiding Officer stated that this Body would have to give its consideration and study to giving the Civil City a dividend from the earnings of the Light Plant. This to be done before the end of June, 1950. Councilman Eastman moved that the Chairman of the Light Plant Com- mittee be authorized to contact the Chairman of the Light Plant Advisory Board and report that Common Council would meet with the Advisory Board group to study the question of paying the dividend to the Civil City from the earnings of the Light Plant. Councilman Law seconded this motion and on voice vote was carried. - Mr. Beck reported that the Plant has 48 days ' supply of coal and more cars were in transit over the C. & 0. Railroad. Councilman Marino moved that the General Manager be authorized to -expend in the sum not to exceed 0175.00 for equipment and entrance fees for the Light Plant baseball team for the coming season.. Councilman Eastman seconded this motion and on voice vote the motion was carried, The Committee was advised by Mr. - Beck that data and exhibits for the P. S.C . were still being prepared. A copy of a letter sent to the P. S.C. by the Chester Men' s Club protesting the anticipated 'rate increase for rural consumers was presented. Councilman Law moved that the General Manager be auth- orized to prepare a reply to this letter. This motion was second- ed by Councilman Tracy and on voice vote was carried. The dredging of the Mill Race was reported completed at a cost of $689.00. Consent was given by this 'Body for the General Manager to give Councilman Law another 'copy of the Gibbs & Hill report. The copy that Mr. Brewer of the Aluminum Seal has would be used as a lend copy. The claims in the amount of $71, 587. 96 were allowed and ordered paid. Of this amount, the following transfers were approved: S233. 60 from Depreciation Reserve Fund Cash to Cash Operating Fund'; $21, 107.09 from Cash Operating Fund to Depreciation Reserve Fund Cash. COUNCILMEN BALDWIN AND TRACY ON THE CLAIMS FOR JUNE, 1950 .
