PROCEEDINGS OF THE COMv;OE1 COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
RICHMOND, INDIANA, SERVING AS A COMMITTEE IN CHARGE
OF THE OPERATION OF THE MUNICIPAL ELECTRIC LIGHTING
AND POWER PLANT, MONDAY, MARCH 6, 1950.
, The Common Council of the City of Richmond, Indiana, serving as a committee in charge
of the operation of the Municipal Electric Lighting and Pwoer Plant met in regular
session in the office of- the Board of Public Works and Safety of said City, Monday
March 6, 1950, at g:30 P.M. Councilman Harris presiding with the following members
being present: Messrs. Baldwin, Eastman, Law, Marino, Myers, Russell and Tracy. The
following proceedings were had, to-wit:
On motion duly made, seconded and carried unanimously, the minutes of the previous
meeting were dispensed with.
Mr. Beck reported that the Plant has a 32 day supply of coal on hands. It ischeleived
that shipments of coal will start in the next few days, now that the coal strike is
settled.
Mr. Beck presented four petitions for street lights that were dated. from Sept. ,l9L.9
to Nov.,1949. The four petitions presented were discussed by Council. Councilman
Eastman moved that the petitions be approved as being recommended to be installed to
the Board of Public Works and Safety. This motion was seconded by Councilman Law and.
on voice vote was carried. The installations as follows: Northwest 16th Street be-
tween Northwest NB" Street and Peacock Road; on Boyer Street between Northwest "L" and
Northwest "M" Street; end of sidewalk near 106 Northwest 17th Street,and Northwest
6th Street- between Pearl Street and Oeacock Road.
Councilman Tracy moved that this committee authorize Mr. Beck to purchase a new Rex
Traveling Water Screen to replace the old one that has been in operation at the Plant
for the past twenty years. This motion was seconded by Councilman Eastman and on
voice vote was carried. The price to be $'4,)+66.00 for the screen and $1,500.00 for
installation.
Mr. Beck gave a brief report on the work he and Mr. Carter had accomplished on the
Inew rates for customers to be presented to the Public Service Commission. All work
is not complete d as yet. Mr. Beck will call all council members in on a special
meeting in his office within the next few days to go over the plans before they are
presented to the Commission.
Councilman Eastman moved that the salary of the General Manager of the Light Plant be
set at $10,000.00 per year as of the date of March 1, 1950. his motion was seconded
by Councilman Law and on voice vote was carried unanimoulsy.
The committee allowed claims in the amount of $16,701.30.
There being iio further business presented, • on motion duly made, seconded- and carried
unanimously, the meeting adjourned. -
Councilman Marino and Councilman Russell to inspect the claims for. March, 1950.
