MEETING OF THE COMMON COUNCIL, SERVING AS A COMMITTEE IN
CHARGE OF THE OPERATION OF THE MUNICIPAL ELECTRIC LIGHTING
AND POWER PLANT OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, MONDAY,
FEBRUARY 6, 1950.
The Common Council of the City of Richmond, Indiana, serving as a committee
in charge of :the operation of the Municipal Electric Lighting and Power Plant
met in regular session in the office of the Board of Public Works and Safety
in the City Hall in said City, Monday, February 6, 1950, at 8:30 P.M. Council-
man. Harris presiding with the following members being present: Messrs. Bald-
"' Chambers, Eastman, Law, Marino, Myers, Russell and Tracy. The follow-
ing proceedings were had, to-wit:
On motion duly made, seconded and carried unanimously, the minutes of the
previous meeting were dispensed with.
Mr. Beck informed the committee that he had made the following appointments in
the different departments at the Light Plant office: Mr. Frank Timmons as
Chief Electrical Engineer, Mr. Robert Rees in charge of the supervision of the
Transmission and Distribution System and Mr. Fred Jenkins as head of the Com-
mercial Department. The two first named men have been with the Plant for a
considerable length of time. Mr. Jenkins is a graduate of Purdue University
in•19)+1 with a B. S. in Public Service Engineering and has had practical ex-
'`� perience with the Bendix Corp. and the Ohio Edison Company. All three men are
residents of the City of Richmond.

Mr. Beck presented a request of the Earlham College desiring the Light Plant to
insert an ad in the Sargasso, a yearly college book. This request was tabled.
Mr. Beck reported that the Plant has 53 days supply of coal on hands with 7 days
supply in transit.-
Two bids were submitted to Mr. Beck for furnishing and installing sash operat-
ors for the boiler room at the Plant as follows:
Quaker Machine Company $ 165.00 Material

Advance Company $ 272.76 Material

Councilman Chambers moved that the bid of the Quaker City Company be accepted,
seconded by Councilman Myers and on voice vote the motion was unanimously
carried..
A thorough discussion was given by all members present of the contract between
the Light Plant and The Indiana-Michigan for inter-connection. Councilman
Marino moved that this committee permit the present contract with the Indiana-
Michigan to expire by its terms, March 4, 1950. This motion was seconded by
Councilman Tracy and on the call of the roll the following vote was recorded:
Ayes, Baldwin, Chambers, Harris, Marino, Myers, Russel and Tracy. Nayes, East-
man and Law. The vote being in favor of the motion and so ordered.

The committee allowed claims in the amount of $75,700.52.

On motion duly made, seconded and carried unani s the meeting adjourned.
