HomeMy Public PortalAbout12-05-1949 2.41 • MEETING OF THE COMMON COUNCIL, SERVING AS A COMMITTEE IN CHARGE OF THE OPERATION OF THE MUNICIPAL ELECTRIC LIGHTING AND POWER PLANT OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, MONDAY, DECEMQER 5, 1949 • The Common Council of the City of Richmond, Indiana, serving as a committee in charge of the operation of the Municipal Electric Lighting and Power Plant, met in regular session in the office of the Board of Public Works and Safety in said City, Monday, December, 5, 1949, at S:30 o°clock P.M. Councilman Chambers presiding with the following members being present: Messrs. Eastman, Harris, Law, Marino, Myers, Russell and Tracy. The following proceedings were had, to- wit: On motion duly made, seconded and carried unanimously, the minutes of the pre- vious meeting were dispensed with. On motion made by Mr. Harris, seconded. by Mr. Eastman and carried unanimously, the General Manager is to contact Mr. Coleman, City Controller, concerning the payment of $2,000.00 that is to be paid by the City to the Light Plant for pay- ment on Baseball Lights. The committee unanimously approved the signing of the contract between. Briggs, Inc. , and the Richmond Park Board for the leasing of the baseball park. The signing of the contract by the Light Plant Committee only binds said committee in receiving payments from the Park Board, for the Lighting. system at said: park. Councilman Tracy moved that the employees of the Light Plant be given the usual Christmas gift cf $5.00 each, in currency, and this to exclude the City Officials of the Light Plant payroll. This motion was seconded by Councilman Myers and on ' _ voice vote, the motion was unanimously carried. Mr. Beck stated that the Plant has a 45 day supply of coal on hand. Mr. Beck presented the Light Plant Budget for the consideration of the committee. After much discussion, Councilman Harris moved that the Street Lighting item be reduced from $25,000.00 to $10,000.00; the item specified as Construction:Work as stated in the Engineeres report, in the sum of $150,000.00, be divided into two sections. The sum of $75,000.00 to be charged against Depreciation and $75.,000.00 to Construction. Councilman Tracy seconded this motion and on voice vote the motion was unanimously carried. Mr. Beck to make- said changes for the . new Ordinance to be presented at the next regular meeting of Common Council. The claims in the amount of $47,390.12 were allowed. On motion duly made, seconded and carried unanimously, the meeting adjourned. Councilman Harris and Councilman Eastman,are the committee to inspect the claims. • -{1 Chairman • Attest: City 01
