HomeMy Public PortalAbout09-06-1949 23 MEETING OF THE COMMON COUNCIL SERVING AS A COMMITTEE IN CHARGE OF THE OPERATION OF THE MUNICIPAL ELECTRIC LIGHTING AND POWER PLANT "OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 6TH, 1949. The Common Council of the City of Richmond, Indiana, serving as a com- mittee in charge of the operation of the Municipal Electric Lighting and Power Plant, met in regular session in the office of the Board of Public Works and Safety in the City Building in said City, Tuesday, September 6th, 1949, at 7:30 o 'clock P.M. , CST. , Councilman Chambers presiding with the following members being present: Messrs. Baldwin, Eastman, Harris, Law, Marino, Myers, Russell and Tracy. The following proceedings were had, to-wit: On motion duly made, seconded and carried unanimously, the minutes of the previous meeting were dispensed with. Councilman Baldwin moved that the General Manager be authorized to ex- pend the sum:of Sixteen Dollars ($16.00) to enter a bowling team, com- posed of Light Plant employees, in the Industrial Bowling League of the �.; City, seconded by Councilman Myers, and on voice vote, the motion was un- r animously carried. Mr. Beck reported to the committee that the transformer located at the Automotive Gear Works failed Sunday, August 28th, 1949, at 2:00 A.M. This set of transformers were originally installed at the Belden twenty-two years ago. One transformer failed November 1st, 1929, and was rewound. On August 9th, 1938, these transformers were moved to the Johns-Manville . Company. Transformer 4173 failed on the 17th day of February, 1945, and was rewound. On July llth, 1949, said transformers were moved to the Automotive Gear Works. Mr. Beck reported that this transformer had been sent in to be rewound. The committee authorized Mr. Beck to get prices on 1,000 and 1,500 K.V.'A. ' transformers and report his finding to the committee at a later date. It was agreed by all council members that Friday, September 16th, 1949, at 7:45 o'clock P.M. ,DST. , all members would meet at the City Building to go,. on an inspection of locations of requests for street light installations.
